Hi,
I hope you specialists can help me because you are my last resort...
I bought a brand new MOTU MIDI Express 128 USB... for "easy" MIDI I thought, boy was I wrong...
Some specs on my system:
- Windows 7 Home, 64 bit
- Up to date with latest drivers (mobo etc)
- NO illegal stuff...
- Akai MPC Renaissance that works like a charm...
- Latest MOTU MIDI Drivers (4.0.5.7483)
Symptoms:
I get "Unknown Device" errors EVERY FREAKING TIME when I boot my computer. Sometimes if I unplug the 128 Express: voila, magic, it works, I have my interface... Most of the time unfortunately it just won't install...
I tried EVERYTHING: remove unknown devoce, remove all not necessary USB crap Windows leaves in the device manager, remove drivers, reinstall drivers, tried an older driver...
NOTHING works. This is getting uttermostly ridiculous.
I thought: problem is my USB mobo not giving enough current: No idea yet it's a friggin' USB port at the back of the mobo and there is nothing plugged in that draws power unless it's my keyboard and mouse (MPC works on external power supply). I even tried starting up without MPC: same result.
I have literally NO IDEA where to look. Motu support ain't even worth a try because they are über Mac minded.
Can anyone please help, point me out a solution, ...
Thanks,
Dom, from Belgium

Hi BaldGaia
I have exactly the same problem. I also added a powered hub between my system and the MIDI Express 128. Most of the time I have to unplug the USB cable from the back of the unit and re-insert it AFTER the system is powered up in order for my applications to see it. Pretty frustrating, and not very impressive. I keep hoping for a new driver to solve it.
