Hi,
I am using a 828 mk2 since 2 years on a laptop with Vista x32. I have just bought a PC with Vista x64 and cannot run the 828 on this machine.
I have installed the latest drivers. The 828 is recognized by the PC. However I do not have any sound (Windows test, MP3...).
Any ideas would be welcome.
Thanks in advance for your help...

Try
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 14&t=36307
plus I raised a technote on the same subject with Motu (March 09), I got 4 replies during May and June. In order to get a reply I had to complain to customer services each time!! Each reply was the usual unhelpfull stuff (i..e not reading my posts or such helpfull augestions "Have you tried resetting the 828mkII to factory defaults" . Finally in mid July I got the following;
"There is currently an issue with the USB2 version of the 828Mkii under Windows Vista 64bit on systems with more than 2GB's of RAM.
In order to use the 828Mkii USB on this computer you will need to either reduce your RAM to 2GB or revert back to Windows Vista 32bit.
We are currently working on solution to this issue. Any updates on this will be announced through the motu.com website once they become available."

Re: 828 mk2 - No Sound on Vista x64
Thanks for the reply. This is very helpful, although not very pleasant...
Just so I am clear: My PC is 4GB, do you mean to say that I need to physically remove 2GB of RAM? Are there any settings that need to be changed in BIOS/Windows?
Thanks again.

Re: 828 mk2 - No Sound on Vista x64: Workaround for 4GB Limit
Thanks for the advice: the cause was really the RAM.
I have found a workaround by limiting the RAM to from 4 to 3 GB from Windows Command Prompt. You can do this in Vista by:
1. Open Command Prompt as an Admin
2. Type: bcdedit /set removememory 1024 (to remove 1 GB)
3. Reboot the PC
This way I get sound from the 828 mk2. Hope this can help...

Bloody brilliant !!!
Thank you very much, after nearly 6 months of utter frustration I heard sound !!! Shame MOTU "helpdesk" couldn't have come up with this short term fix.
Thanks Once again

Re: 828 mk2 USB No Sound under Vista x64
Greetings All,
It is little comfort to learn we are not alone suffering under Vista 64bit with no sound within because of poor drivers for this unit.
I have been without my 828 mk2 USB for 18 months, ever since moving up to 64bit in order to gain more RAM !!
The recently discovered work-around to limit Vista seeing more than 2gb of ram I am sure is a relief for many in this situation; but, I on the other hand have 16 gigs of RAM and naturally reluctant to lose 14gb.
So until MOTU write correct drivers for 828 mk2 users I continue to use an M-Audio PROfire 2626 which, in my view is not a patch on the MOTU unit.
Please MOTU, we would like our 828mk2 USB operational again under 64 bit environment ... please
Groan ....
Mike
