motu track16-how many line-in ?
So...i have to decide between ultralite mk3 an track16.Like more second one because-nice disegn-surface and because has option to expand via optical. But honestly this moment i do not want to buy 2 units like.I need 2 line for mixer-turntable,2 for octarack,2 for roland mc808.If i can use for this reason guitar and mic inputs? How many real line-in give me track16 to connect my machines?Did not found in manual really.Ultralite mk3 hybrid seems to be perfect in this moment, but what if i will decide buy other toys?I can not really expand this unit...
thanks
thanks

Re: motu track16-how many line-in ?
Possible my english is so bad-i am from italy-but i did not found nothing about using dedicated mic inputs by soundmachines, only line-in fot this job and they are only 2...
Re: motu track16-how many line-in ?
It says there are two mono mic preamps, two mono direct inputs for guitar and bass, and two stereo line level inputs that can be used for drum machines and keyboards, or anything that outputs at line level. That makes up the 8 analog inputs. These three input types should cover just about anything. If you have more mics, you would get a mic preamp unit with an ADAT output and connect it to the ADAT in on the Track-16.

If you go with the Track 16 I have two suggestions.
1 - USE EXTERNAL POWER WHENEVER YOU CAN!
2 - GET THE BREAKOUT BOX (about $125).
Never look back. (OK, that's 3...)

I don't know what you mean by "more machines". If you mean items like synths and drum machines, you should be able to use the Mic inputs with the trim adjusted properly, but the lo-z inputs on the guitar direct inputs might not be ideal for line level input devices. If all your devices are general line level, you might be better off with a simpler interface that doesn't have mic preamps and direct in circuits.

That means having to use the USB connection to the computer and not the FW one, correct?MIDI Life Crisis wrote:If you go with the Track 16 I have two suggestions

I resisted the idea, but I might do just that. Mch more convenient!MIDI Life Crisis wrote:2 - GET THE BREAKOUT BOX (about $125).
I won't, but I admit I miss my 2408 mklll; I especially miss having 4 more stereo outputs to my Tascam mixer from DP... But I an manage it.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:Never look back
It's definitely a great little unit that packs a lot of features!

I guess the obvious answer is the MOTU 828. 8 general analog inputs, 2 mic inputs (with adjustable trim), and two banks of ADAT input with 8 input channels each, allowing you to expand via additional ADAT based interfaces. Very flexible.coza1 wrote:for example..? i like something similar audio quality to motu.
