Some famous GROOOOVES!!!

Post by Tesionman »

Just some of my favorite world famous drum grooves.

All the drums are natural(just EQ and Compression). No triggers or blended samples were used.

Hope you enjoy!

cheers

I think you're great, Hugo. I've listened to your stuff quite often and I enjoy it.

I especially like "Bend," and hope you do additional originals and hopefully with a group of players.

Keep it up.

Very Nice.
I'm not a drummer and because drums are one of the biggest problems for me I have a couple of questions.
What kind of mix do you have in the cans, any effects?
What size are your kicks?
and how do you have the kicks mic'd ?
Its been a hit and miss for me whether or not I get a good recording.

Great stuff as usual Hugo. I'm with Dan, I always like to check out your stuff.

Nice double kick work, and I like that groove where you use the tom rim instead of the hat… You have a nice aggressive, controlled style.

Hi Wylie!

- I do not have any effects while I'm recording. I use my Motu's Cuemix app with just the natural dry monitoring sound.
- My kick in this case is a 24"x18". I also sometimes record with a 20" kick.
- I have two mics on the kick, a Sennheiser E901 inside to get more attack of the beater and an AKG D112 on the hole of the resonant head to get more low end. Works great when combined.
- Recording drums is not as easy as it looks. There are a lot of variables. Room, Tuning, Mic placement and obviously how you play them. ;)

"Recording drums is not as easy as it looks"
That's an Understatement I'm not new at this by any means but drums are a challenge.
I think it may be the sound of the Sennheiser E901 I'm missing I going to pick one up.
Thanks Hugo
