Rock Song - Fresh Mix - Self Mastered

Post by csiaudio »

Hey!

Ok the song is coming into it's final lap before it's in the can and would like to get another set of ears on this one.

Song background: A friend and I wrote it, I recorded, engineered it, sang it and well, psudo mastered it. Another friend who played with Brad Paisley played electric gtr on it which was cool I just wish I had a kick arse stack for him to play through but we had to use plugs :face palm:
Drums are Superior Drums, bass was live, Ac Gtr live, Ebo live, BGV's are me again.
Recorded with DP, using a lot of UAD Plugs, and some others.

Please any input where the mix is lacking will be appreciated - I'm hoping the low end is close to being dialed in (weak point in my mixing/mastering).

Here is the mp3 version:

Here is the full wav file if you'd like to hear the mix untainted by mp3 crap

Thanks for taking the time to listen and comment!

Nice song dude. I would bring the guitar levels during the verses up a touch and maybe a touch low-mid (around 400hz) boost on the bass just for a little clarity. The bottom sounded pretty good on my system. I thought your separation on the drums sounded great and the vox sounded pretty smooth.

Thanks for the feedback GD

Yeah I've been working on getting those guitars right so what you listened to was a mix behind what I'm working on now lol. But another listener told me the same thing so that's the beauty of getting some other ears/opinions on a tune.

Thanks again!

Good stuff as always, csi! Keep up the great work, brother!

One thought would be to warm things up a bit. (My two cents on a quick 15 minute break. Original mix far left.)

Hey Berg,

Yeah I like what you did there. I'll have to mess with it as you did and see if I can get those results. Thanks for your help and taking the time to mess with the track!

Hey Berg if you've gotta second can you give this tweaked mix a once over? Seeing if I sorta hit the mark to warm it up a bit.

Same links as first post - you may need to refresh just in case the song was stored in cache.

Thanks!
