Kerouac film, score done in DP

Post by Kubi »

I just finished the score to Michael Polish's breathtaking BIG SUR, based on the novel by Jack Kerouac, starring Kate Bosworth, Jean Marc Barr, Josh Lucas, Radha Mitchell and Stana Katic, with music supervision by KCRW's Chris Douridas.

Bryce and Aaron Dessner (of The National) started a beautiful, haunting score but weren't available to finish it, so I got to write more than half of the film's original music. It was a transcendental experience. The final version premiered on Sunday at the San Francisco Int'l Film Festival. (A preliminary version screened at Sundance earlier this year.)

You can preview and download the end title music on my blog.

Do I have to point out that the whole thing was done in DP? No of course I don't, because of course it was! :D :D :D Other software used on nearly every channel: Slate VCC and VTM, Softube Summit Audio Grand Channel, Soundtoys EchoBoy and Decapitator, Softube TSAR Reverb, a couple of steam-punky Kontakt synths from Hollow Sun.
