Symphonic Instrument on Windows 8.1

Post by _bhawkins »

Hi, I just installed Windows 8.1, and the MSI VST plugin is causing other apps to hang. For example, Sibelius can't seem to load it, though it loads my other VST's without a problem. I can also run the standalone MSI app with no trouble.

Has anyone used MSI.dll on Windows 8.1? Maybe it's not compatible for some reason. Or do I need to make a shortcut to MSI.dat in a special place? I can't remember where that shortcut is supposed to go. Thanks for your help.

The installer searches your hard drives for the .dat file. It should be copied first otherwise the installer will fail it's search, at least on Mac.

Very quirky process.

But you say you can play the standalone so I don't think there is anything wrong there with the shortcut to the .dat file.

As for the programs hanging, I'm on a Mac and this plugin is crashing the recent versions of Cubase/Studio One on operating systems later than 2011.

It's a very old plugin now.
