MSI library available as UFS for M5 or UVI Workstation

Post by stephentayler »

I just noticed this - allows the Symphonic Instrument library to be accessed through M5 and UVI - useful for 64 bit......

http://www.motu.com/download/download_m ... oduct_id=5

needs an iLok authorisation apparently.....

Cheers

Hey thanks for posting this.

Here are the instructions for requesting the new iLok license via Techlink. Just finished submitting mine.
http://www.motu.com/techsupport/technotes/MSI64

I hope they update the instrument file as I really liked the GUI which was part of the charm of using MSI. But this is a reasonable workaround in the mean time.

Hmmmm - how lovely to see this thread spammed.........

(Sorry, the above comment was about spam that has been removed - thank you James)

Anyhow, all loaded and authorised on iLok, seems to work as expected, so, wonderful!!

After filing the TechLink, MOTU got back to me within 24 hours to confirm registration on iLok. I then simply moved the .ufs file to the existing M5 folder, and there it was next time I opened M5 in DP.

Cheers

He was not talking about you. I'm the admin and I deleted several spam messages from this topic AFTER Stephen had posted that. It was about an actual spam message, not your message.

James,
Very good of you to clarify this. I've noticed but have ignored various bits of spam that have crept into the forums. You efforts to stay on top of this non-sense is much appreciated.

Stephen,
Your mention of the MSI 64-bit update was very exciting news on this end. I must have automatically tuned out any spam that was present around the time I responded.

Although I really couldn't imagine that your mention of spam was directed at me, for other reasons I was bothered enough to at least verify that.

All is good. :unicorn:

MSI is working out great with M5 3 on my i5 MBP with OSX 10.8.2.

Best regards,

Wally

Good news about the MSI update. It's nice of MOTU to do this for those of us that are moving (or have moved) to 64 bit and the ability to load it directly into M5. I assumed I was the only person left that still wants to use a few MSI sounds, but I guess there must have been a few others . . . .

I do appreciate it when people refrain from posting follow ups on the spam messages. I am able to delete all posts (and topics created) all at once when I delete a spammer's account here. However, if someone has posted in a topic created by a spammer, that topic is not removed and the follow up message remains and I have to manually delete the topic. It saves me work if people don't say anything to the spammers and don't report a post unless it's been up 24 hours or so and you think I have missed it. Thanks! :)

yup

I'm using the MSI sounds in UVI and so far it's been working like a charm in DP 8(.01). While the whole library doesn't compare to the most "advanced" ones (vsl, eastwest...) there are a good amount of very good and helpful sounds in MSI.

so UVI workstation is 64 bit? (what version?)

Do you think this would mean being able to use the original Ethno 1 sounds as well in this manner?
MPB 17" 2.66 i7/8GB RAM, OSX 10.6.8, DP 7.24, 828 mkII, Ethno 1 via Ultimate Soundbank, MX4, MSI, Komplete 9, Ivory, Stylus RMX.
