Unisyn hierarchy

Post by themagichoof »

I have the OEM version of the Korg N1 Unisyn editor for my N1 synth. There's a Help file in it that's pretty detailed but I'm really confused on the file types that you work with.

You have Banks, Libraries, and Performances. As far as I can tell, a Library is just a custom file that you can store any of your favorite patches in but it's limited to just one kind of patch type (either a Program library or a Combi library for example). A Bank seems to be the internal contents of a certain bank on your synth (like Prog bank A, Prog bank B etc). And a Performance seems to store everything. Or something like that.

I also keep seeing something about an internal bank and a current bank file along with the Automatic Bank Update thing. What does the Automatic Bank update thing do? Update the bank file you stored on your HD, or the synth itself? Maybe it's that it updates your synth when you close a patch editor instead of having to store it manually or something.
