Warning from MOTU - iOS 13 ‘patch’ for 10.11 and 10.12.
I posted earlier today that DP could not see my AU plugins anymore. I wrote to tech support and they got back to me very quickly. If you use Mac OS 10.11 or 10.12 and plug an iPhone/iPad that has already been upgraded to ios13 into your Mac, you will get a message from Apple saying you need to install an upgrade to be able to keep using 10.11/12 with you iOS device. Which is what I did...not an OS upgrade, just a separate piece of software that self installs. Anyhow, apparently Apple managed to miss the fact that this update destroys AU and AAX plugins from being ‘seen’!! Appalling oversight from Apple.
Posting the TechLink below...
Sorry to hear you're having this issue. If I could take a shot in the dark....did you just update your iOS device (iPhone, iPad, etc) to iOS 13?
If so, you ran a "required OS update" for your iOS device to communicate with your computer for iOS 13. Believe it or not, this kills several AU and AAX plugins. MOTU has confirmed that this is specific to OS 10.11 and 10.12. It's happening in many major DAWs and we believe it to be a huge oversight on Apple's end.
There are two ways to bring this back:
1) Restore from Time Machine to a point prior to your iOS update
or
2) Upgrade your OS to 10.13 or above.
MOTU doesn't recommend updating the OS if you're not ready to, so a Time Machine backup would be your best bet. Again, this is a non-MOTU/DP specific issue. This is effecting several AU and AAX plugin manufacturers.

Re: Warning from MOTU - iOS 13 ‘patch’ for 10.11 and 10.12.
I'm one of the one's effected, and yes DP no longer seems my AU PI's, but only in 64-bit mode. In 32 bit mode, they're there. And for me, anyway, only DP is effected. But to the point of Time Machine b/ups; Can anyone be more specific as to which file/s to restore? Clearly, I'm not even thinking about a full restore to, say the day before (or is that what is being done...?).
Thanks for any info.

I got lucky... moved to Mojave a month or so ago from Sierra.
Anybody running a 5,1 Mac Pro, my Mojave experience has been excellent. You do need to upgrade your GPU to a Metal-compatible card, however.

Huh?you will get a message from Apple saying you need to install an upgrade to be able to keep using 10.11/12 with you iOS device.
That always happens after a major iOS upgrade. I got the same warning after I plugged my iOS 13.1 iPhone into my OS 10.14.6 iMac Pro. As always, I let the update run so that my phone would sync.
DP 10.01 sees all of my plugins just fine.
I can only assume that those of us on High Sierra and Mojave are not affected.
Thanks for letting us know. Does MOTU Support have a suggested workaround?

I did the update and I'm on High Sierra, no problems here, thank goodness!mikehalloran wrote:I can only assume that those of us on High Sierra and Mojave are not affected.
Wish I could say the same for my iPhone 6.. it did NOT fare well with the new iOS 13. Pretty much broken.

DP is easy to restore. Just reinstall. If that works, declare victory. If the iPhone sync broke paths only, a DP reinstall and reboot should fix it — if that’s the problem.primeevolutionary wrote:Restore what specifically? If it doesn’t, you’ll need to restore your whole system. Restoring only DP won’t fix anything that is system related.
If you’ve created any work product (new or modified files), copy those to a separate drive such as a thumb drive. Otherwise, those will be lost to a system restore.
Once restored, you have a few choices: 1. never sync your iOS device again, 2. update to High Sierra or Mojave before syncing 3. Wait till someone finds a fix — which may or may not happen. #2 would be my choice but not all Macs can do that.

How was that possible? IOS 13 is not compatible with the 6. It wasn’t supposed to be able to install. A 6S, 6S+ or SE is the minimum requirement.Killahurts wrote:I did the update and I'm on High Sierra, no problems here, thank goodness!mikehalloran wrote:I can only assume that those of us on High Sierra and Mojave are not affected.

Hopefully, you have your phone backed up. If so, you can do a factory reset and restore from that. If not, a factory reset will lose all your data but you’ll still be able to download any purchased apps from the App Store.

Restoring didn't work.
Reinstalling didn't work.
Upgrading to High Sierra worked.
Thank you, Mike and everyone else that helped.

Mine is a 6S+. I didn't mean to say that the phone was completely broken, just the software. I had cancel/continue screens about mail popping up every few seconds, where I couldn't cancel or continue, until I just had to turn my mail completely off and remove one of the accounts, which took a long time because of the popups. Apple pay/wallet keeps turning itself on daily, sometimes twice, and demanding I set it up, even though I expressly turned it off in settings.. and a few smaller issues.mikehalloran wrote:How was that possible? They will fix it all eventually, after they've fixed the problems in their newest phones (and given me ample time to get fed up and buy their new triclops phone). I really like my 6S+ and I probably shouldn't have updated to 13, but I had not been paying attention and I didn't know it was that big of an update.

Sorry for the radio silence..been a busy weekend. As I understand it, as I mentioned it’s only an issue with 10.11 and 10.12. High Sierra etc is fine. Time Machine - you need to revert the whole system to the time before you clicked on that upgrade, not just DP. The only other solution is to upgrade to High Sierra or later. There are no workarounds-Apple has screwed us!

Tech Support calls are free after an OS upgrade. Get someone from Apple on the phone. Oftentimes there are settings in places that are not intuitive and having someone walk you through it can save frustration.Killahurts wrote:Mine is a 6S+. Over the summer, I retired the last early 2009 iMac belonging to any of my school clients. Those cannot run any OS later than El Capitán and districts are now letting them go. Once Apple no longer supports the last OS one can run With security updates, off to recycling it goes. This means that the oldest machines I take care of run High Sierra and that won’t be made obsolete till next year.
For some reason—just a hunch—I’m betting that DP isn’t the only app with this issue.
