new install of 8.07 on High Sierra: verify again and again?

Post by fgagne »

I've had to do a new install after HD disaster.

This required an "upgrade" to High Sierra.

Whenever I want to use DP I'm having to fill out the verification info... again.

I click the DP icon, the "Digital Performer Verification" window opens, I fill out the pertinent info (again). I see the 'contacting motu for verification' message (or something to that effect) and all goes well. I can now use DP.

Then when I'm done, I close DP.

Then I want to use DP again. Click the DP icon, "Digital Performer Verification" window opens again. Lather, rinse, repeat, rage.

What gives?

Honestly, High Sierra so far seems pretty dismal but I'll save you the details.

Thanks for any advice.

Have you read this thread?

About halfway down the first page GravityJim talks about an authorization problem. Might be related.

DP 9.51 is the first version supported in High Sierra.

That the license server does not work properly in OS 10.13 before 9.51 is not a problem—it's what it is. You already know the workaround.

Anyone still running 7.24 will find it won't work in HS with APFS. Again, the issue is the license as it can't read the CD to authorize. The CD activates and spins but 7.24 cannot generate the license file. As DP 7.24 support stopped years ago, it's still not a problem even though it no longer works.
