Help finding 2 lost audio files

Post by waterstrum »

Help!
Doing a very simple session with 2 audio tracks and one VI.
Finally got a great take and DP crashes.

I reopen DP and the recover window comes up offering the names of the audio tracks.
It asks me to locate the tracks, but I search and cannot find them by the DP names.

Are these tracks lost or do they exist somewhere?

Not a big deal, but it was a wonderful take.

Thanks
All is well

The files should be in the audio folder within that project's folder.

If DP crashed after recording without saving, the audio files may be in the trash.

Something similar happened to me when I was new. After spending a fair amount of effort in recovering them, which I did, I realized my takes were not as great as I remembered them
Mac Mini Server i7 2.66 GHs/16 GB RAM / OSX 10.14 / DP 9.52
Tascam DM-24, MOTU Track 16, all Spectrasonics' stuff,
Vienna Instruments SUPER PACKAGE, Waves Mercury, slaved iMac and Mac Minis running VEP 7, etc.

Hee Hee! Isn't that the way?! It's as though the panic & pain of losing them messes with your perspective. But, good tip on checking the trash. Also, check the undo folder (?)

Two things I would also check:

Studio>Audio Monitor - See if the files are still listed here and, if so, look at the "Take Folder" listed.

Soundbite window - If the files are still listed here, select them and hit option-R (reveal in finder).
DP 11.23, 2020 M1 Mac Mini [9,1] (16 Gig RAM), Mac Pro 3GHz 8 core [6,1] (16 Gig RAM), OS 14.3.1/11.6.2, Lynx Aurora (n) 8tb, MOTU 8pre-es, MOTU M6, MOTU 828, Apogee Rosetta 800, UAD-2 Satellite, a truckload of outboard gear and plug-ins, and a partridge in a pear tree.

Thanks for all of the kind and helpful replies.
This was a weird one.
First time for me.
No luck in finding the files.
The tracks show up as blank waveforms and the file names don't exist in the soundbite window or anywhere else.
Just a strange glitch.

If anything, this just expands my gratitude for the wonderful folks here at Motunation.
So kind of you to jump in and offer help.

For me, DP is the best DAW on the planet.
All is well
