DP 9.5- Playback glitch when saving?

Post by csavetman »

Is anyone one else experiencing a tiny hiccup or glitch when hitting save during playback in DP 9.5?(sounds like a very tiny dropout)
I don't seem to recall this in the previous version. Haven't checked to see if it has any effect during recording.

Have been doing that a lot (only MIDI, however). Some are hearing "chirping". You'll have to scan the messages, but probably the DP 9.5 is Out thread is where i saw it.

Just spent all day trying to get DP to glitch when doing a Save with playback engaged.

Could not reproduce it. DP 9.5 was smooth sailing all day long. Well, with the exception of my issue
with VerbSuiteClassics (see other post about that).

I got the glitch when saving during playback. Also, there were moments when samples in Kontakt were cutting short, specifically Abbey Road Modern Drummer. I had only 1 audio track and one Kontakt instrument in the project.

I get the saving during playback glitch only while audio is playing, MIDI seems to be unaffected for me. I also just upgraded from Mountain Lion to Sierra and for whatever reason the glitch is now less pronounced. Go Figure.

I'm hearing that little glitch when saving in play, although it appears to be intermittent. With a file containing 1 Omnisphere instance, 1 EZDrummer instance, and a few audio tracks the little glitch seems to appear more at the beginning of the song rather than further in. Not much to get our knickers in a twist over, but not having it until now makes me wonder. It could become irritating at the end of a long session.

Motu is aware of the problem and I was told via Tech Link it will be addressed in the next update. I hope that's soon.

You all save while playing? I’ve never done that.

I have been saving in play for years as well. Most other DAW's had that feature well before DP.

I've always saved while playing. It seems an obvious break in the workflow where it can be done. You've made a load of edits, pressed play to hear what you've done, like looking over a document you've just edited. There won't be any more edits while playing or reading, so it's a good time to save.

Before 9.5, I never heard a dropout when saving during playback or experienced a problem, and it's not so prominent to be an issue for me.

I get them too and it really seems to have little to do with how powerful your Mac is, etc. It cropped up in 9.5. It's a minor annoyance, but I look forward to it working again as there are time where I'll be playing something for someone else and start playback and reflexively do Command+S and get the hiccup and then say "Oh... let me back up and play that again for you." Life is hard when you're OCD! :)

I was doing a session with a band yesterday and was surprised that I wasn't getting the save while playing glitch. Then I realized I did not have a Master Fader on the project. Once I added it with no plugins I started getting a small glitch, as I added more plugins on the Master, the glitch became more pronounced. Just my observation.

I've had the glitch noise with and without a Master Fader instantiated. It seems that as session time progresses I hear it less.

I've never done that either! It wouldn't even occur to me to try!

I'd say that this "glitch" is people's karma finally being delivered upon them for their long-term involvement in this "saving while playing" indulgence!!

(ehhh... maybe I'm also a little OCD...)
