DP Screen Redraw/Sluggishness

Post by cody »

So I'm running DP 9.13 with Sierra on my retrofitted Cheese Grater MacPro 12 Core - with an Nvidia 980 driving 2 4k displays and a Slate Raven. GPU meter is pretty low and DP is incredibly sluggish. Like drawing CC data when nothing's playing, etc.

Big template but seems a bit odd. Any ideas out there? Anybody else running DP in 4K? THANK YOU!

I think I saw in some thread that this is a Sierra problem and that MOTU is aware of it. Let's hope it is addressed in the next update.

I just heard from a tech that DP handles graphics with the CPU and not the GPU? Anybody know if this is true? If so, a major blunder...Yowzer!

Is this screen redraw issue with 9.13 and Sierra a widespread problem, or are just a few experiencing it? I am getting closer to updating my OS and was considering Sierra, but I don't want to go there if this is a big issue. So, are there others using Sierra and DP 9.13 having a smooth go of it?

Makes sense, actually. It clears up part of the mystery why the i7 has much faster screen redraw over the i5 when the GPUs are similar. I've suspected that the FPU was involved. That confirms it.

This is the first I'm hearing of it. Not an issue for me. The latest build of 9.13 over Sierra is working quite well here.

That seems silly, no? Seems like any chance to delegate graphics so CPU could focus on DSP would be smarter? What am I missing?

Don't know and the why's don't interest me. I'm only concerned with what works.
