Long standing selection annoyance in DP

Post by amplidood »

I've never understood why selecting a soundbite in any editing window doesn't automatically create a new selection range. I can't think of a single instance in the way I work that I wouldn't want this to happen. Anyone?

There is the option in the selection range pop-up to "Set to Selection Bounds" but it doesn't always seem to work with a selected soundbite. At least it was not consistent when I tested in the TO and the Graphic Editor.

Isn't there a key command to set the selection range to selection?

Double-clicking with the I-beam cursor gets you the SB selected and its duration ready in a selection range.
You get it by pressing letter "i".

Double tap makes it stick (change tool), so you can just double click on the SBs as needed.

I´m not in front of DP now, but you can also get a selection range by clicking on a SB and pressing Shift-Command up/down arrow. This works as long as there's another track. I suppose the command would be something like "move selection to next track".

Not ideal, but you can get it quickly like that. Very annoying if you need to do that a lot.

Precisely. The double-click I-beam thing only works in the SE.

The other one I mentioned works in at least the SE, TO and GE.

But I do hear your point. It should be "easier" to do...

But wait! The first one ALSO works in the TO. Same for the GE in the case of MIDI notes.
