Explode Music ala Finale

Post by cody »

Hey all -

Getting ready to send DP sequences for music prep and am wondering if there's an "explode" option hidden reminiscent of Finale. Split points make you define a switching spot, as opposed to smartly recognizing voices. Any thoughts? I've always done it by manually selecting but was wondering if there was a quicker way!

Thanks!

Cody

Hey Cody! I think the way you would accomplish this if probably thru the SEARCH features in DP. You can essentially set split points, which would probably get you 90% of the way there, depending on how close the parts are sequenced. Once the search engine defines your selection, you can cut they notes for the part in question and paste them into a new track (or leave them there until you paste and then cut, which might be a safer procedure).

Alternately, you might consider exporting an XML from DP and importing to Finale and then exploding from there.

So glad to see you doing so well! Congrats, dude!

Thanks MM! Been forev.

That was my suspicion - thanks! It's a shame simple MIDI tasks can't be streamlined. Hell an old 486 machine could compute the explode music command! ;)

It's still in F2014.5. Do you not have that or Finale?!

We should do coffee one of these days. I'm in Burbank. Would love to catch up.
