Open Mach Five 2 projects with Mach Five 3

Post by AleCerto »

Dear MOTU friends,

I looked for an answer in the forum but it seems there is any (anyway 23854 topics are a great number to look into ;) ) .
I'm sorry if it has been already answered, in that case could you point me to the correct thread?

I do need to open with DP9 and Mach Five 3 some old DP projects with Mach Five 2 in it (without Mach Five 2).

I mean, I have these projects I have to use again, they were created with DP7 and Mach Five 2.

I've tried to open them with DP9 and Mach Five 3 and I hoped they were converted automatically to a project with Mach Five 3 (instead of MV2), but they don't.

I've also tried with DP8&Mach Five 3 (on a second startup partition with MacOS 10.8.5) but the problem is the same. :(

At the old times I didn't save any Mach Five 2 multi so I can't load them from scratch in MV3 (Mach Five 3 opens any Mach Five 2 instrument with no problem).

Is there any way to "force" DP9+MV3 to open those old DP7+MV2 projects?

Am I doing something wrong?

Needless to say, I have no more DP7 nor Mach Five 2.

Any help will be appreciated.
I thank you all in advance.

Ale

I believe M5-3 is quite different from ver 2. You should be able to load patches but not multis. I believe you'll have to recreate those.

This may not be useful to you as you no longer have Mach5 2, but if you could somehow get a version on your computer, Mach5 2 can run using '32 Lives'. You could then save the Performance multi; from what I've read Mach5 3 should be able to read Mach5 2 saved multis.

Ty for your replies guys!
I confirm, MachFive 3 opens with no problems any kind of MachFive 2 files (patch & multi).

Anyway, after a long search into my furnitures, I luckily found my old installer DVDs of MachFive 2.02 (thanks to my habit of not throwing anything, despite my wife's desires :) ).

So I'm going to install MV2 and DP8.07 on my secondary MacOs 10.8.5 partition (where there's also PT10 I use to "recover" the old PT/SDII projects).
I'm going to open those old DP projects with DP8/MV2 in 32bit mode, save multis (with patches and samples to be sure ;) ) and reopen them in DP9/MV3.

I'll let you know how it goes.
