Lyric window information...

Post by TnMike »

Just curious about how to print a lyric sheet from the lyric window in DP 9.0.2?
Thanks, Mike :D

Mike, I'm at my gig so I can't try this.

Can you make the lyric window active and select "Print" from the menu? Or Command-p?

I just tried it. Usually File>Print Window does it, but with the lyric window that option is not available.

Unless there's something I'm missing, a window screenshot (Command-Shift-4...Spacebar) might be your best bet.

Or, copy the lyrics and paste them into a word processor.

I know it's an extra step.

Hmmm... I looked but didn't see that before. No matter—DP 9 is good!

In DP 9, you can export as MusicXML, then import into a notation program that supports v.3.0 (not all do). Not only does this give you ways to edit your score far beyond QuickScribe but most can extract lyrics. This includes MuseScore which is free.
https://musescore.org/

I found the following on the MuseScore forum:

...way to extract only the lyrics from your score, in 2.0.3 you can use:
Edit | Tools | Copy Lyrics to Clipboard
You can paste the text in any text editor to make it readable.

In Finale:
https://usermanuals.finalemusic.com/Fin ... lug_in.htm

Earlier versions of MusicXML, such as v.1.3 supported in Encore, cannot import lyrics.

Unfortunately, the reverse is not yet supported for us who like to begin composition in notation programs. We are limited to MIDI export/import into DP. Someday...?

Slightly different question re: DP lyrics, (DP10), is there a way to shift all lyrics later (locking to bars) in the Quickscribe view? I'm needing to add 5 empty bars at the beginning of a lead sheet, and when I select all, it's not selecting the lyrics..

I think I resolved my own question--use the AUTO FLOW feature to start the selected text in the lyrics window to begin from the selected note in the Quickscribe score.

Nice feature, MOTU!
