DP 9.1 video scrolling?

Post by gzap »

Can anyone here confirm whether DP 9.1 no longer scrolls video when you scroll the transport?
Seems it now waits until scrolling is stopped and then updates the video file.

thanks

Working as expected here. If I move the wiper the movie follows along frame by frame at the rate I move the wiper.

Thanks, it does appear to be my rig right now.

Its working now, though stuttering a bit.

Wonder if its related to background processing or memory?

Or even pre-gen. I'd have mentioned that but dont have an opportunity to test it this weekend. Also, have you repaired permissions since the update?

Repaired permissions?

I haven't done that in ages.

I'm not sure what it is, the video sometimes scrolls, sometimes stutters, sometimes doesn't start with audio and freezes on a frame then catches up after a few seconds. I wonder if it is to do with pre-gen and the constantly changing buffering and if video is always a lower memory/processor priority, if that makes sense. This is a very light file, one Kontakt, one omnisphere and a half dozen audio tracks. Not much else.

Will keep checking.

Repairing permissions is actually kind of critical, especially after a DP install. There are all sorts of MAS errors corrected (every time I've installed since at least DP 7). Also, MOTU stopped using the Quicktime engine to control video (was that in DP 8?). It certainly can't hurt to do so and might solve some of your performance issues. DP 9 was clicks & pop city for me with the first release. Repairing permissions fixed that instantly. BTW, in El Cap you'll have to use the Terminal program to repair permissions. There's a thread with the command around here somewhere...

Caveat: others will say permissions repairs are now useless. That is incorrect.
