DP 9.1 doesn't see some old au plug-ins

Post by Zvalera »

Hi, I just downloaded DP 9 today. I'm running on snow leopard. Mac Pro 2008 64 bit tower. I've been using DP6 for years now.

I've noticed that DP9 doesn't recognize several VIs and plug ins... (Real guitar; real strat; old waves plug ins; rmx). I'm wondering if it's because the missing plug-ins are 32 bit.

Everything still works fine on DP 6.

I tried dragging the plug ins into DP9s library and throwing its cache away. DP 9 still doesn't recognize them nor see them as failed plug ins.

Any thoughts? Sorry if this has already been answered somewhere else.

A 32bit thing I bet. DP defaults to 64bit.

You can switch to 32bit mode by doing Get Info on the DP app icon and switching on "Open in 32bit mode". If the plugins show up that means that they're not 64bit versions.

Wow, easy fix. It worked! Thank you!

Now I need to get my old plugins to work in 64 bit mode....

I vaguely remember reading somewhere that Vienna ensemble pro 5 can use my 32bit plugins in a 64 bit environment. I don't remember if it was this site or another. Hmmm, just now remembering something like that.

If they work in 32bit mode but not 64, you have only two choices:

One is 32Lives. This works for many AU plugins but not all.

Upgrading your plugs is the other. Many of us have done both including myself.

You will read about JBridge but it works on VSTs only,

Lots of old threads on all of the above. Use the Search function.
