Problem with meters and tempo

I had a sequence chunk with a few meters, (mostly 4/4 with a few 2/4 bars and one 3/4) and decided to add a few tempo changes, just up or down a few BPM in a few spots. When I added a 68 BPM tempo a few bars before a change to 2/4 and then back to 4/4, the bar BEFORE the 2/4 started playing back as 3/4 bar (the counter only went to 3 beats) and then went to 2/4 and 4/4 as before. No music or data was lost, but of course now everything was off by a beat.

The other weird thing was when I quit and tried to restart this project, I got an error message that said something to the effect of something was not playing back in 4/4 and did I want to fix it (I wish I had saved the exact wording of this weird error dialog box). I pressed yes, but nothing was fixed.

The only way around this was to insert the tempo change, delete the meter changes to 2/4 and 4/4 and then reinsert them. This is NOT normal behavior.

I continued with the project and sent a tech link to MNOTU after the client has left. I just wondered if anyone else has had problem like this with 9.01 or any other version.

Hi Kinny, I read in the 9.01 release notes that the default setting for "fix partial measures", which had been changed in v.9.0 was changed back in the 9.01 update. Could that have anything to do with this issue? bw, tommy

You're exactly right. Fix Partial Measures in the Edit Windows pane of Preferences was not checked. I think I've always had it checked before, so don't know why that changed. Perhaps my 2/4 that had the bar before changing to 3/4 was not exactly on a beat and that was why the playback was changing to 3/4. Anyway, I've now checked the box and although I can't duplicate the problem, perhaps it will work better for me. Thanks so much for catching that.
