DP9 does not crash when inserting value or pan in either the track or the auto lane on my system. Not so much a "bug," as a conflict with something.

Yeah. But a bug gets seen by everybody.

I'd call MOTU and see if they can reproduce it.

Does it? Some bugs are intermittent or inconsistent and, hence, hard to track down.

Yes, a bug is not defined as something seen by everybody. As a sole app developer for a mega-app, I can vouch for how much complex GUI's are getting over the years and how much more difficult it is to test every possible workflow and interaction -- even if using test automation tools and test driven development -- or to reproduce problems that others see.

I can think of no time like the present, where it is so common for one user or another to hit a bug in a reproducible fashion that few if any others ever see (no matter how hard they try). Part of this is because apps are getting more sophisticated. Older apps might have incremental work that needs refactoring (presumably this was done for DP9). Platforms are also changing rapidly, and OS and tools vendors are less transparent than ever (and often don't announce in advance).

I actually think it's impressive that so few problems are being seen in DP9 upon first release.

I'm too tired to try to reproduce this particular bug at the moment. I'll try to remember tomorrow night, as I pretty much had to rebuild my system this week so may have a more stable and consistent computer than most at the moment, meaning I should theoretically not be able to reproduce this volume insert problem if it is sensitive to computer setup and debris.

I'm not sure if this will apply to everyone, or if I just got lucky. I reinstalled DP9 off the DVD (I had installed from a download initially) and the bug seems to be gone now.

Maybe others can report if they installed from a download or the DVD?

I have had success inserting on lanes, but on the track it crashes every time.

I have onl the download version of DP9. Tried a new installation from the installer, but it not resolved this bug
