Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
I've lost a lot of scrolling capabilities in DP9. Faders, sends, pans, left-right bar scrolling in all windows gone. Up and down scrolling still works. Kind of a huge bummer. Is it just me? My mouse?

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
There is a preference or setting to turn on fader scrolling, and it may work for other knobs and sliders. I don't know why you would lose horizontal scrolling. DP 9 fixed that for me. I lost most scrolling somewhere in DP 7 and never got it back until DP 9.

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Thanks bayswater the Enable Sliders & Knobs Scrolling pref doesn't carry over from DP8 to DP9 fro some reason, so that's fixed. However, I still can't use the scroll wheel for horizontal scrolling in any window. Other apps that allow it behave as expected.bayswater wrote:There is a preference or setting to turn on fader scrolling, and it may work for other knobs and sliders. Can everyone but me scroll horizontally in DP9?

Checked it again. I can using the trackpad on a MBP, or the Magic Trackpad on an iMac using the 2 finger swipe. Maybe check the OS X gesture settings/prefs if you use them to set scrolling.dix wrote:Can everyone but me scroll horizontally in DP9?

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Thanks. I just have a mouse. No trackpad, so I guess I'm looking for a response from a desktop, mouse user. Again, all's well with scrolling with DP8.

What action do you use for horizontal scrolling?

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Just a regular scroll wheel scrolling up and down. On horizontal scroll bars, scrolling down for left and up for right. Works universally on all apps but not DP9.

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Yes, I don't get horizontal scrolling when hold the cursor over the horizontal scroll bar with a Wacom or a MS scroll wheel mouse. It does work with the Magic Mouse though, by just moving your finger left and right on the mouse surface anywhere in the window.dix wrote:Just a regular scroll wheel scrolling up and down. Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Well, crap. I was hoping it was a pref or something. I never liked the Magic Mouse so I never kept any around. I'll submit the bug to MOTU, but I may just have to adjust. As you noted it might be a long time before they get around to it.
Thanks so much for tracking the issue down bayswater! It's much appreciated. At least I can move on.

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
It might still be a bug, or maybe incompatibility between the driver for your particular mouse and the way DP wants to see scrolling control. BTW, I found my older Apple mouse, the one with the tiny trackball on the top, and it works with that too. So maybe its just a matter of getting your mouse to issue the correct info. Maybe you'll have to use a modifier key to get it to distinguish vertical from horizontal.

Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Did you hold down SHIFT for scrolling horizontally? Seems like there was a modifier key involved. Maybe it depends on the mouse involved.
I'm so glad to hear it's working again for trackpads. There's nothing quite like that feel that it'll go wherever you want, fast as the wind!

Yes it's working for me. Regular Apple wired mouse with Scroll wheel, but it's an older system and hardware.dix wrote:Thanks bayswater the Enable Sliders & Knobs Scrolling pref doesn't carry over from DP8 to DP9 fro some reason, so that's fixed. Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
Dumb question but is scroll speed on a trackpad faster than when using a mouse/trackball? The reason I ask is I have scroll speed maxed out in OSX control panel for my trackball and in DP (both 8 and 9) vertical scroll seems to be real slow; slower than in any other program on this iMac I use. I've never used horizontal scroll.Shooshie wrote:Did you hold down SHIFT for scrolling horizontally? Seems like there was a modifier key involved. Maybe it depends on the mouse involved.

Feels about the same here using a Magic Trackpad, the trackpad on a MBP, and various mouses with wheels and balls. With DP 8, scrolling for me was absurdly fast with the Magic Mouse -- unusable.musicman691 wrote: Dumb question but is scroll speed on a trackpad faster than when using a mouse/trackball? Re: Lost scrolling capabilities in DP9
It can be set, of course, to any speed. It can be super fast, super slow, or a big range in both directions. The main thing about the Trackpad and scrolling is that it feels so free. You can just go where you want, without thinking about it, because both axes are always in play, along with acceleration and inertia. It's just a different experience than mouse scrolling. Magic Trackpad scrolling in DP is breathtaking.musicman691 wrote:Dumb question but is scroll speed on a trackpad faster than when using a mouse/trackball? In the past few Apple OS's, after days of uptime, sometimes a weird thing happens in which suddenly the Trackpad starts over-reaching. It becomes hard to control the scrolling. This is some kind of bug in the OS, not the apps that use it, for it happens everywhere when it happens. At this point I take a break and reboot the computer. Everything's back to normal afterward.
