How to hide "note on" in controller data, but not info pane?

Post by MDesigner »

When using "Bars" mode, "note on" events are shown as little tick marks. When I open the View Filter and hide those, they disappear, but also the velocity value in the info bar disappears too:

Is there any way to hide the "note on" tick marks in Bars mode, while keeping the velocity value/edit in the MIDI Editor?

Just turn it off in the Event List tab in the View Filter window, and not in the Global tab. (That doesn't really make a lot of sense to me, but it works.) Or, if you put it in line mode, the ticks disappear and the info windows still have the velocity values.

I tried disabling it only in the "Events" page, it had no effect on the MIDI Editor view at all.

And yeah, I usually use Lines mode, but I'm on DP9 beta 6 and Lines is broken, so I'm using Bars.. figured I'd try to get used to it. :) But I really dislike the Bars view as it gets difficult to read as data overlaps (and colors blend), and of course the annoying "note on" events.

?? DP9 ?? That might have been worth mentioning. What I said works on my MBP with DP 8.07. Obviously I have no idea whether it works on DP9, let alone a beta.

I think he was kidding. If not he has no business being a beta tester as those are usually move knowledgeable than that and even so, they'd be asking MOTU, not the general public. Lol

Kidding? Way too subtle for me.

Well his sig uses his real name and website so if he is a beta tester he violated his NDA. I do thinks it is a joke and waaaay more subtle than my attempts at comedy.

How about calling velocity values " note on" events? Is that a joke too?

The not so subtle truth? I'm really confused as to the value of a having a velocity reading if the note on event is not there. Is that the question, or is the question whether or not DP can filter note on in specific edit windows?

It's really not a big effen deal, IMO, and not even worth my time to investigate an answer. DP9, OTOH, interests me greatly, butt [sic] again, if he is a beta tester, he will likely now be a former beta tester - unless my understand of the NDA is incorrect.

I think the question was whether you can hide the velocity ticks in the MIDI editor, leave the notes, but see the on velocity value in the info window when the note is selected when in bar mode. You can in 8.07, but not (yet) in 9b6!
