Yosemite: Is DP's 32 bit mode gone?

Post by beautypill »

I tried to search for this topic, but I didn't come up with any responses.

Is 32 bit mode no longer an option in DP 8.07 Yosemite? I am trying to open 32 bit mode, but I am finding that I cannot find it in the "Get Info" section.

Should work OK. Try opening from the Finder instead of the dock.

Thanks for the response.

That is a different problem.

My problem is I can't find the 32 bit mode at all.

With Yosemite is it still possible for the system to start up in 32 bit mode? If so, would the option to launch an app in 32 bit mode still appear? I.e. Could it be that you're already running everything in 32 bit?

No. 32bit startup is not possible for the OS itself.

? This from Apple support:

To select the 64-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture x86_64

To select the 32-bit kernel for the current startup disk, use the following command in Terminal:

sudo systemsetup -setkernelbootarchitecture i386

Hmmm. I wonder if it was changed? There used to be an app to boot in 32 or 64 but that stopped working and my understanding was the OS couldn't boot in 32.

I suppose the 32 bit kernel might have been dropped in 10.10. Don't have a Mac with me at the moment.

I tried to open in 32 bit mode but it's not working. The box is checked but DP8.07 still runs in 64 bit. Any idea?

Do you have more than one instance of DP installed?
