Strange permission problem

Post by dixiechicken »

DC here!

Lately I have running into this issue quite often.
I run DP on my boot drive and have projects on a second hard drive.
When I try to save newly created and/or an old projects Yosemite tells me
I haven't got the right permissions to save changes in the projects
back to that secondary project hard drive.

How come? anybody got any ideas or tips how to resolve this.
I feel it's something rather simple I have overlooked........ :?

Cheers: Dixiechicken!

The second drive should be formatted as a Mac drive, HFS+, not FAT 32.

You need read and write privileges to all folders and directories on the second drive. The easiest way is to do Get Info on the drive icon, make certain that your Administrator account has those privileges and check the box for "Apply to ..."

Did you apply it to all enclosing folders?
M2 Studio Ultra, RME Babyface FS, Slate Raven Mti2, NI SL88 MKII, Linnstrument, MPC Live II, Launchpad MK3. Hundreds of plug ins.

DC here!

Yes I did - but that results in an enormous amounts of ACL:s
on loads of system files - that are not supposed to have any such ACL:s
at all.
(and DP could not even open ANY projects after that)

That is according the "DiskTool" when I asked it to pepair permissions on that
second hard drive - after I tried to do the include thing.

Problem solved! :)

Copying everything I wanted to keep (hopefully)
4 Big folders with lotsa stuff
From the drive with permissions problems HD2
to my big boot drive (temporarily)HD SSD (hybrid)

Reformatting HD2 there by wiping the older OS-X on that drive.
Copy back the 4 big folders to drive HD2
Opening a project from drive HD2 adding some stuff a little editing
Saving - presto it works - lols.

Nothing like a little lobotomy to get the brain working again :D
