MIDI keyboard issue- Fixed using USB Card

Post by Timeline »

I just realized that in Apple audio MIDI setup my MIDI timepiece AV is greyed out and no MIDI makes it to DP although the "MIDI monitor" shows activity. Tried multiple record toggle and now I'm back to no MIDI keyboard working. Im using a Keystation 49 but got it to work previously using MT-AV before. What to do? Thanks in advance for any help here.

Weird... I'm at a loss to start. Greyed out? Have you tried deleting the interface and re-creating it in AMS? I haven't had to deal with anything like that in a while. Latest MIDI drivers from MOTU installed?

Yes. I installed the latest MOTU MIDI Installer 1.6.64208 which states in the notes that it is compatible with OS10.10. I have 10.10.1 currently installed.

As far as AMS, yes but the Keystation 49 is there but not editable and greyed out.

The MTPAV is not there. The only things close that is selectable is the Digital Timepiece.
Anyway... I went ahead and tried to set that up and still nothing. Just grasping at straws here... I don't have a DTP.

What bothers me is at the MOTU site, they claim MTPAV is compatible up to 10.10.
I would think it should work no problem.

Purchased a USB3 PCI card which I needed anyway. MTPAV works, USB from Keyboard 49 still bad but i don't need it now. Possibly bad keyboard USB output.

This is an old problem I remember from a few versions ago of OS X. It may fix itself with a restart. I don't remember how I've fixed it in the past, but I'm pretty sure it came back without my help, because I'd remember if there were something I did that actually worked. I do remember fretting about it for a while, trying all kinds of things like loading old config files for Audio/MIDI Setup.

I haven't seen it in a while, or if I have, a restart fixed it. Sorry I can't be more specific, but the good news is that if it's the problem I remember, it's not permanent.

On the other hand, you might check all your connections and cables.

OH wait... One thing DID occur to me. Be sure your interface is not connected through a hub. Or at least, be sure it's a powered hub.
