Exporting specific MIDI tracks (+ tempo/conductor) to MIDI?
I can't figure out how to export a MIDI file, but only the tracks I select. If I have a template with 100+ tracks and a particular cue only uses 6 of them, I really wish I could just somehow select those 6 (plus the conductor track) and export those to a MIDI file. It seems the only thing I can do is manually delete dozens of tracks first, then export.
Is there a better way?

Ah! I was still searching through forum posts and hadn't found anything, but I just now did.
Looks like the easiest possible way is to select the desired tracks (or MIDI data), then choose Project > Sequences > Copy Selection to New Sequence.

Before Save As, try turning off play enable for the tracks you don't need.

Tried that, disabling MIDI tracks has no effect on what gets exported.

Works over here - are you using Save As or Export?
try Save As.
try Save As.

I did "Save Copy As" then chose MIDI format.

Save a Copy As works OK over here, too.
Are the MIDI tracks outputting to different channels ?
Not just different instruments, different channels.

Oh, I see better what it's doing - all MIDI tracks are exported but only the play enabled tracks have notes.
That won't help you much, sorry.

So, I load up a DP project. I disable all MIDI tracks except for two of them (harp and piano). I go to File > Save Copy As and choose MIDI format 1. That MIDI file has all the tracks (including note data), even the ones I disabled (by clicking the blue "play" triangle).

You used to be able to drag selected tracks to the finder. It would be a Standard MIDI File format. Don't know if it still will do that or not.
Also, you can drag selected tracks to the Chunks Window. I haven't tested these recently, as of DP 8.01, but I've used these methods many times, I suspect they still work.

You can CMD-drag tracks to the finder, but that results in a MIDI file with just the track. It also may not have the tempo/meter embedded. I'd need to dump 2 or more MIDI tracks to a single file.
I'll just keep using the method I discovered and mentioned above. It works!

I think if you select tracks, including the Conductor track, and drag them to the Chunks Window, you'll get what you're looking for. Have you tried that? I think you have to drag from the data side of the Tracks Overview Window. If that doesn't work, try the track name side. (not in DP at the moment, so I can't test it for you)

Try Export / Selection as MIDI file
Include Conductor track in the selection

Yes, as with most things, DP offers you multiple paths to the destination!reedster wrote:Try Export / Selection as MIDI file

Aha! Even better. Thanks, I swore I looked at the Export menu, but not closely enough apparently.
