DP 7.24 crashes on playback in 10.8.3

Postby Clevelandrawks » Mon Jun 03, 2013 6:26 am

I just purchased a brand new Quad Core, installed all software, updated same and everything runs perfectly accept DP. Installed DP 7.1 from the disc, then DP 7.24 installed perfectly and runs fine, most of the time. On occasion it will crash during playback of 8-10 mono tracks with a Quicktime movie open and only one plugin-Kontakt - 5.10. The other times it will crash while I'm sliding a soundbite in the sequence editor to another location on the same track.

I have deleted pref. and re-installed DP 7.24 from a direct MOTU download and still the same issues. I'll post the crash log here too on the next crash. Just wanted to begin this thread now as I have not seen anything in my searches here for this topic.

Any ideas?

UPDATE:

OK, I uninstalled DP 7.24 and DP 7.01, repaired permissions and then started from scratch. Installed DP 7.01 and went to open it from Apps folder and of course it asked to be authorized, with the install disc in the drive, which i did. The drive spins up and i can hear the disc being accessed for info for about :15 seconds. Then the authorization window appears again. I re-enter all the info, press "OK" and the same thing happens. DP 7.01 will not allow me to authorize on this computer from a disc install. What's up with this?

Also, here's the crash log for those who may decipher it better than I can.

I believe there is an issue with authorizing the early versions of 7.xx in Lion and Mountain Lion. I think you have to download the 7.24 version and install that over your 7.01 to get DP to authorize. Search the board, it's in a couple of threads. Have you updated all your plugs also? Assuming you're coming from an older OS to ML, there are several plugs that cause problems. Anyway, give MOTU tech support a call and maybe they can help tracking down rouge plugs, etc.

Greater Tuna, in fact. I've been wondering what they've been up to. Tuna needs a good tornado now and then to keep the streets clean.

Actually, their show is called The Queen of Bingo. Rowan is a producer/director who directed a feature I worked on (music and sound design) a few years ago calledDalton Trumbo's Johnny Got His Gun. Shane produced the film. Together they run Greewnwood Hill Productions.
