Merging soundbites in tracks window

I used to merge soundbites all the time so that when sending to someone else, it made importing files easy.
For some reason, I can't get this to work.
I've tried dragging over the entire length of the track, using the region selection tool, etc.. but the merge command is still greyed out.
I've looked in the manual but it doesn't elaborate much on merging.
Can someone please help?

Just got this problem! Can't merge soundbites what so ever.

Merge Soundbites works here. I'm glad you brought it up though, because I usually test it after each release to make sure it's working properly and sample accurate and there are no glitches around the edits. I forgot to do that with 8.06. I just tested it right now and it is working as expected.

I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't be working.

Maybe trash the preferences.

Working now. I mixed up the merge in the edit menu with merge soundbites in the audio menu. But from what i remember, both didn't work, but all is good now.

Ah, yes, I've done that too. That could also be the OP's mistake.
