DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Since DP8 was unusable due to video issues, I went back to v7.24, but realized the DP8 install updated all my plug-ins, and by updating I mean, I think it took away my MOTU: Reverse plug-in!
Am I blind? It should be there, right below MOTU: Reverb, but it's not.
As a sound designer, that reverse gets used a lot!
Guess I have to reverse audio outside of DP (or use nanosampler - does it have a reverse function?) and re-import it.
Any one else notice this?

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
I still got it. Check to make sure it is not on the disabled list in the prefs.
Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Good suggestion, thanks.
I checked, it's listed in the plug-in preferences, and it was enabled.
I rescanned everything, but no go.
It doesn't show up as a plug-in under Audio -> Plug-ins
I've got . . .
MOTU: Reverb
MOTU: Ring Modulator
MOTU: RXT
The Reverse is AWOL after my DP8 install
*sigh*

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
I may be wrong, but Reverse was never a real-time plug-in. Select a soundbite and see if it's in the menu to "apply" a plug-in destructively.rmills007 wrote:Good suggestion, thanks.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
No, you are correct. It has never been realtime. But it is non-destructive and creates a new soundbite. The old one is still forward.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Right. Bad choice of words. I reread the post and doubt he was looking for it as an insert. I just checked the Apply Plug-In... and chose "All" and found Reverse available. I noticed I got the new Effects Picker instead of a plug-in menu.MIDI Life Crisis wrote:No, you are correct. It has never been realtime. But it is non-destructive and creates a new soundbite. Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Go to the AUDIO menu, choose "Apply Plug-in..." which brings up a plug-in browser.
I found REVERSE by itself in an MAS folder. It is also sorted in the Manufacturer heading under MOTU.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Argh! The Reverse offline plugin is present in DP8, but now its gone from DP7! Anyone know how I can get it back? I see it in the MAS folder. I tried reexamining and other maneuvers. Still gone. …there's quite a few things now that the 8 install has messed up in 7.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
Same here.
In DP7, going to the Audio menu, Reverse is gone from the usual location.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
[posting this info on all the Back-to-7 threads I'm subscribed to]
Spoke to MOTU tech support. They say to go back to 7, you need to trash 8 and reinstall 7 from the install disk (and then update to 7.24). In other words you can not have both 7 and 8 on the same drive if you want the export options etc.[& Reverse presumably] in 7. …seems drastic to me, but that's what they said.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
I would suspect that if you can get just the Reverse plug-in from DP 7 and rename it "DP7 Reverse" or something like that and put it in Plug-Ins folder with the newer "Reverse" plug, you'd be covered in both cases.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
I don't think so. The creation date of the Reverse plugin that DP8 sees and 7 doesn't is Sept 2009, so I don't think it's a new version. …however, if I could figure out how to just install one plugin from 7 I'd try it.James Steele wrote:I would suspect that if you can get just the Reverse plug-in from DP 7 and rename it "DP7 Reverse" or something like that and put it in Plug-Ins folder with the newer "Reverse" plug, you'd be covered in both cases.

Re: DP8 : No more Reverse plug-in?
WRONG! It does work! Thank you James!dix wrote:I don't think so. I remembered that haven't installed 8 on my laptop so I tried that old version of Reverse on my Desktop rig, with the 8 install, and Tah-Dah! Weird thing is that it has the same Creation Date as the one 8 installed, so I'd assume that its the same plugin, but there you have it. Predictably, you lose Reverse in 8, but at least there's a work around.
So maybe it IS possible to have 7 and 8 both working on one machine. Next up, the Export settings. Hopefully some smart user can crack that nut too and make it possible to access all the export settings in DP7 after installing 8.
…PM me if you need the old version of Reverse, or m'be James can put it on a server.
