h'lo all,
I've got a reoccurring problem trying to startup DP 7.42 on my 10.7.3 partition. I'm guessing that not many (if any) of you have this problem as well, or I'd have spotted posts about it. But, perhaps you have had this problem in the past - and found a resolution for it - and if that's the case, I sure would appreciate your suggestions!
First off, I'll state that I am using a Digidesign 002R interface, which means that I'm also using the "widely-known-to-be-extremely-quirky" Digi Core Audio Manager (DCAM) and this (the DCAM) is could well be part of the problem.
Here's the routine:
1. In 10.7.3, I launch DP. All seems to be loading fine (with beachball spinning) including the CAM and it finally gets to DP loading it's last MAS plug.
2. At that point, the beachball goes "terminal" and no further loading occurs (5 + minutes).
3. I open Force Quit and see; "Finder, DigiCoreAudioManager, and Digital Performer (not responding)".
4. I Force Quit DP, pass by the report windows and load DP again.
5. DP - and the DCAM - load like a champ!
Same routine....every time.
I've tried a complete reinstall of DP, but no luck. I also get a huge crash report, which I could include here, if anyone (not me!) knows how to make sense of all of that info.
Anyone ever come across something like this?
a "boot DP 7.24 in Lion" problem?

Re: a "boot DP 7.24 in Lion" problem?
You certainly have my sympathies. That said, I would recommend that you
ditch the Digi interface. Is there any way to do this? I know it's a bad economy and money is tight...
Personally I wouldn't go within fifty miles of a Digi interface of any
kind, ever. I simply don't trust them.
At any rate, [perhaps you could borrow another audio interface (like a
MOTU Ultralite Mk III or 828 Mk III) and see if the problem occurs. That
would confirm that it is the Digi interface that is the "evil" factor in your scenario.

This is not new. It's the Digi drivers not loading correctly. Have you re-installed them on this partition?

Re: a "boot DP 7.24 in Lion" problem?
Dave & Mike, many thanks for your replies.
Dave, yes I plan to replace the 002R, but as you noted about the economy.... I'm going to *try* and hang on to it for a while longer as PTools 11 will require me to replace it. By that time, PTools should be (and DP *will* be) 64-bit, and it'll be time for a new MacPro and a new interface (not Avid). In the meantime, I'll just fight the DigiCoreAudioManager wars (as I have for 7-8 years!
And yes, Mike, I did reinstall the DCAM driver on both the 10.6.8 & 10.7.3 partitions, but no luck there.
Ah, well.....

Try starting the DCAM manually before launching DP.
