MOTU Has Computer Glitch - double bills (makes Good!)

Post by MIDI Life Crisis »

At first, I thought it might be just me:

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... =9&t=37944

Then this:

http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtop ... 71#p311371

When I called MOTU they said there was a glitch in the computers there and I was double billed and I will be refunded for the over billing.

If the double billing results in an overdraft or over limit charge on your account MOTU WILL NOT credit you for that fee! That is what happened to me and frankly, I pissed as hell over it and will be writing to MOTU Exec. Offices to request the credit. It should be credited immediately as it was their fault, not mine.

Now THAT is bad customer service, IMO.

So watch your receipts bunkies. Check your statements. And don't use a card that might be close to the limit.

Certainly scared ME! I just put another $200 in that account just in case. I only put enough in there to cover online purchases, so if they had billed me twice, it definitely would have bounced.

Now they can bill me twice... as long as they give it back later.

They didn't bill me twice, but they did bill me when I got DP6, and they were not supposed to.
They fixed it promptly and refunded me without problems.

Hope you get your issue sorted out too, Mike. But you are right. If it was their mistake, they must fix it in a way that does not affect you at all, as if it never happened.

I saw a special on one of the financial news channels that the banks now make more off overdraft fees then any other income source. I found that BofA will not let you know until you check online or get a statement if you overdraft. Then they charge you $30 bucks.

For that reason last year I made it so none of my debit cards have over draft protection. When you ask them to take it off they will resist. Just tell them to take it off. Then what I do is have one account that I move funds into my debit card. That way there is not a bunch of money sitting around for the scam artist. It works well and if I have forgotten to transfer money I can do it with my iPhone right on the spot. Keep a credit card for purchases on credit and limit how much cash you can take on that card. They will let you take 50% but you can limit to $200 bucks if you want. The scam artist see that and just move on.

If you don't have the money in the account it stops everything. That is how it should be...

Thanks for the posts guys. I've faxed and emailed MOTU and will send a letter to the executive offices later today. By my accounting, I've paid over $1500 in upgrades to MOTU since 2000 and that doesn't include the cost of hardware I've purchased. If I make a mistake, I make up for it with my clients and customers. They shouldn't pay for my mistakes and I should pay for MOTUs mistakes.

You know, I can understand software issues. One can never predict bugs on every system. But I cannot understand a policy that doesn't compensate a customer when the action of a company or an individual is impacted by their actions. It's just bad customer service, IMO and I trust MOTU will understand my not wanting to pay$237.95 for the DP 7 upgrade while everyone else is paying $202.95. It's more than just a principle. It's hard cash, customer service and plain old fair play.

I trust they will come around on this one.

Just curious. You who have been overcharged:

DId you call in or use the website?

I called in. I think Shooshie tried to but then had to go to the web. If that's the case, then there are probably a lot of folks who are similarly situated.

Maybe this just means that DP7 will be TWICE as good... therefore, you've gotta pay accordingly

I called them personally to fix my issue last time. They were very nice.

UPDATE:

I just received a call from MOTU and they will be crediting the overdraft fee. OK, now I'm staring to feel really good about all this. My faith in DP (and investment in MOTU) is restored!

I love a happy ending... :)

So am I! I was contemplating emailing somebody at MOTU about this issue, because had they NOT credit your overdraft charge they had no idea the #$%^storm that was headed their way.

No doubt somebody at MOTU narrowly escaped their date with the "comfy chair." :D

I have a strange notice on my account that says

" debit: $783,600 for upgrades to everyone at Motunation." Is there something I should know?

:)
Success is just one more plugin away! And happiness is as close as your next upgrade.

This billing scheme is probably MOTU's punishment for the naysayers and the complainers
