Help 2408 standalone mode ?

Post by Aramis »

Hello All!
Some time ago , I was using DP 5.13 with an RME 9652 card and a Berhinger ada8000 with it for my analogue ins and outs .
Now , I am trying to do the same but replacing the ada8000 with my 2408 i/o box in standalone mode .
Anyone knows if the box can do analogue in to adat and at the same time adat to analogue out ?

Is there a trick or it is not feasable ?

Tonight I will read my manual .

Anyone did that ?

The unit can do conversion in some limited capacity.

You can select the following input banks as your source.
01. ADAT input bank A
02. ADAT input bank B
03. ADAT input bank C
04. ADAT input banks A-C
05. TDIF input bank A
06. TDIF input bank B
07. TDIF input bank C
08. TDIF input banks A-C
09. Analog input (wired to bank C)
10. SPDIF inputs (wired to bank C)

Whatever input bank(s) that is selected as source is sent to ADAT/TDIF output banks A-C and the analog outs.

Oh, make sure to set your clock properly.

I thought the reply would answer the question.

The stand-alone mode is limited to those 10 input sources that you can pass through the ADAT, TDIF, and analog outs. The 2408 won't let you do what you want unfortunately, because it doesn't give you the option of picking both analog and ADAT together for input sources. You'd have to connect it to the Audiowire controller and use software to route that way.

adding what I think is a bit of clarity I don't find elsewhere:

2408mkIII can only have digital OR analog input, so can’t go both directions in standalone mode.

At 44K1/48K, any single ADAT input (A, B, or C) passes audio out the analog connectors.
Selecting A/B/C ADAT input does not pass output audio.

As a result, 8 channel analog output at 88K2/96K is not possible, 4 channel is.

8 channel analog input will pass to ADAT outputs at all sample rates.

Doug, I lost you there. You mean digital output via ADAT?
EDIT: Oops! Never mind, I figured it out.

Yes, from ADAT source.
