NI plugs still broken in 6.01 (not all?)

Post by JMSchur »

Just installed the DP 6.01 update on my PowerMac G5 and the NI plugins are still broken. Now, the NI plugs pass the MOTU check but as soon as I try to instantiate any NI plugin, DP crashes. Really frustrating!

The same here. I went back to DP 6.0 and the workaround of using "MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle" version 1.6.1 of DP 5.13.
I've tried DP 6.01 with the two bundles - ie "MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle" version 1.7.0 from DP 6 and 1.6.1 from DP 5.13 but got all crashes and graphical problems with NI stuff as well as Stylus RMX.
UAD 5.0 and the latest Vienna worked well with "MAS AudioUnit Support.bundle" version 1.7.0 wich is a good start.

Hope the next fix - maybe DP 6.02 - will do the trick.

I'm running Reaktor 5 and Absynth just fine.
The latest Stylus works fine too with dp6.01.

running 10.5.4
on a PPC G5 dual 2.5ghz

it seems it works in tiger 10.4.11 reading others posts........

if MOTU had a face I would slap it right now. this is just unprofessional. I support this company, and was patient for almost 2 months, and no fix. just plain ignorance on their part.

My sentiments exactly. I've been using DP since version 2. This is the first time I truly regret upgrading. I wish I would have spent the money switching to Logic.

Which NI plugs are broken for you? I have found some of the older ones are going to have problems. My FM7 opens with a totally blank white window... however oddly enough it works-- you just can't see the UI. (Not useful I know). Also KontaktPlayer 2.2.4 won't work either and crashes. I can use both of those standalone with Soundflower, but it's a little bit of a hassle. My point is though that some of the older NI stuff might not make it and it might be necessary to upgrade to later versions.

As for me: I'm using FM8, Akoustic Piano, Massive, Absynth 4, and Reaktor5. All are latest versions. They are completely broken with the DP6.01 version of AudioUnit Support bundle; and, with DP5 AU Support bundle, they work but are unusable due to graphic anomalies. I can however, still use them in DP6.0 with the old DP5 AU Support bundle.

Do you mind if I ask: when you say "completely broken," do you mean that they crash DP... or do they do something else? I'm wondering why FM7 doesn't crash DP (there's a missing GUI of course!) but FM8 does?

Crash! As soon as I attempt to instantiate one of the NI plugs, the beach ball spins for a few seconds and... poof!

Man... that's a bummer... I feel your pain. This needs resolution from either NI or MOTU quickly. I'm using my NI stuff standalone as a workaround, but it just causes me to avoid it more than anything. I bought VI ONE not too long ago which runs on Kontakt Player2 and I haven't been able to use it as a plug-in since-- which means my Plugsound Pro is getting more use these days.

I have all the latest versions of NI's Komplete Bundle, in which the only plug-in that does work is Kontakt 3. Everythng's updated to the latest versions.

The GUI does not load and an error message pops up. NI has said this error message is a DP Error message, because it is not an error message they were familiar with.

C'mon motu......and ni.......get it together.
