Maybe you could have a look in the fontbook app if there is a conflict with your fonts?

Good thought. Found several sets of duplicate fonts. Removed but no improvement in 7.11
DP 7.1 is still fine.

Thanks very much to everyone for their suggestions, this is a strange one.

Strange, I'm having the problem on my imac. I also upgraded my MacBook pro to 7.11 at the same time and it's not happening on the laptop…yet. It didn't happen immediately on the imac. It's not going to be simple I fear.

Just so happens that I'm one of that small group. If you have that problem, you'll notice it's not confined to the TO window. Any window with columns is affected. The good news it that it's fixable.

It's not a DP bug. If the computer is in this condition, you'll see the same problem in DP6 as well as all versions of DP7.

The problem is a font problem. It happened to me because I migrated from an old computer to a new one. During the migration, something gets corrupted in the User Directory fonts. That's why if you switch to a different user account, the problem goes away.

I haven't found any utility that could fix the problem. I had to fix it manually. This is how I fixed it on my system:

Go to User Directory>Library
You'll see a Fonts folder and a Font Collections folder. Create two new empty folders on the desktop. Move the contents of the Fonts and Font Collections folder to these new folders. Log out of the User account. Log back in. Launch DP. Quit DP. Put the contents of the Fonts folders back where they started. Log out. Log back in. Launch DP.

That fixed it for me. How about you?

Dave thank you so much. The fix worked for me. FYI, if this helps at all, on my system all DP 6 versions as well as 7-7.1 were fine. My problem started with 7.11. I've been on the same Mac Pro for a couple of years now so the font corruption must've happened with an OS update done sometime ago.

I will try that...I had the same problem on my other Macbook 1.1. I didn't have that problem with the TO on my original setup on my Macbook Pro...I guess I wasn't the only one...

Swapped internal drives (causing this anomaly) and upgraded to DP7.2 over three weeks ago and found your explanation and fix (going into a session tomorrow). Just wanted to say BIG thanks for solving and posting. :)
