Re: Should you use a cleaner? What utilities do you use?

The only "cleaner" I've used for at least 15 years now is Onyx. It's just a GUI for Terminal commands, and harmless. https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html Like the other Mike pointed to, mostly all other cleaners are malware at this point. BTW Malwarebytes is the only antivirus my ...

Re: Continuity Camera

As I say, I find that after you've gotten it going plugged in, you can disconnect, and it stays operable for that Zoom session. Once you close Zoom (or whatever app, FaceTime etc.) you have to start all over again. Not so for you? Nope more often than not it would lose connection as soon as I unplu...

Re: Continuity Camera

I was trying to get this up and running the other day on my Mac mini. Nothing doing. On the phone with Apple I find out that to get it going on a Mac mini or Mac studio (which dont have built in cameras, obviously) you must first connect using a cable. Then you can disconnect the cable and it will ...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

Well one problem with the bug is it's not consistent, I had some initial hiccups but for a couple days in a row no issues at all, with ilok having to be unplugged and plugged back in, or any peripheral losing contact with the M2 Studio here. Obviously I'm not moving Kontakt 7 to the second monitor t...

Re: ikMultimedia ARC 4 Studio

Revisiting this... I'd never gotten satisfactory results from ARC 3. Inexpensive calibrated measurement mic or the MEMS didn't make much difference—results were terrible. I came to the conclusion that my sub was the issue. Because of the strange shape of my desk, the microphone cannot handle my roo...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

Anyway it's not enough to make me switch to Windows, but it's really weird when you think about what Jobs said when asked what he admired about Microsoft and he mentioned their great relationships with developers and hardware companies. I mean their hero said this, you would think this would be of ...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

Apple has told me (without actually telling me) that they have been bombarded with support calls since 14.4 was released and that a hot fix may come out before 14.5. My calls went in less than 24 hours after the release. At some point, they're going to have to ease up on trying to protect every Use...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

Ugh, so IMO it's a bunch of new security features in 14.4 that have tanked randomly various actions that allow third party peripherals. So basically any dongle, hub, monitor, or scripting language that Apple just blithely "forgot about" is having compatibility issues. Hopefully they aren't...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

So second Kernal Panic in 14.4 using Kontaktv 7 this time not in Komplete Kontrol, messing with the GUI. Panic then auto restart. Does not name Kontkat in the crash report, but it's obvious now. Sending in a tech support to NI.. It's a big club and growing. For clarity, it's specific to Kontakt 7, ...

Re: Sonoma 14.4

I'm having no issues to speak of with hubs, (except that iLok every couple days needs to be unplugged and plugged in to be recognized by the computer, older than 14.4 issue), … You're still seeing this? I tried a number of different hubs over the years to resolve this annoying issue. I settled on t...

Re: DP11.31 is now available

2 things related to Markers Conductor track / edit layer / Marker - dragging a marker frequently crashes DP. Won't even try it without hitting save first. Previously a titled marker with only 1 character was visible, I use V verse C chorus I intro F fade, etc. Now it's not visible in the conductor ...

Re: Any inside track on next DP release?

As far as sandboxing goes, Bitwig’s implementation is superb and offers levels of granularity. You can sandbox individual plugins, all of a developer’s plugins in one sandbox (to facilitate intra plugin communication), or choose no sandboxing. If a plugin crashes a window pops up informing you and ...

Re: Any inside track on next DP release?

There is no indication to me that Apple uses it's retrieved crash reports to inform developers, and IMO it's even more unlikely that they would with our tiny community of end users, developers etc. Thanks for that helpful explanation of crash reports. I'll definitely pay careful attention to that, ...
