Re: EastWest QL Symponic Platinum
Hi Brad, I've been running EWQL Platinum for a few months now on a dual 1.25 with 2 gig ram 10.3.5, Dp4.5 - I've been too busy to update. A couple of the large string ensembles severely stress my cpu with 4 to 6 note chords - as you change chords the reverb tails hang over and 4 notes are really 8. ...

Re: 96kHz versus 48 - anyone got an opin?
I can't imagine how up-sampling would achieve anything at all. Once the audio left the 'real world' at 48k the limit was established. I guess you could go out into some quality analog gear and re-convert at a higher rate but that's just getting further away from reality. For me the whole thing about...

Re: Any SoundSoap users out there?
Hi Resonant Alien, I have SS2 and find it useful for dealing with some noises that I can't quite solve with my Waves Restoration plugs. It is the same engine as Soundsoap Pro without the complex control interface. You can definitely damage the audio if you're not careful, but that's true for every p...

Re: Lucid 6-96 Vs Big Ben
Just a quick further note on this subject. It was suggested that the Genx6-96 is not a fair comparison to the Big Ben and the more expensive Lucid clock SSG192 is the better comparison. This is true only if you need the features that it offers, being video sync, pull up/down rates, multi format outs...

Re: Lucid 6-96 Vs Big Ben
Jayman, TC Electronic handle distribution of Tube-Tech stuff in the US so I guess the best way to chase a deal is via the TC dealer network. Maybe you could get some info via TC in CA, or find out if a demo is a possibility: TC Electronic, Inc. 5706 Corsa Avenue, Suite 107 Westlake Village, CA 91362...

Re: Lucid 6-96 Vs Big Ben
Also, Dave, I know from another thread that you use the tube-tech for summing. Do you stem out 16 channels? Thanks much, jayman jayman, I'm just about to set up a mix session with 20 outs - unfortunately 8 of those will have to be via an ADA8000 (borrowed as an interim measure). Like Splinter, I wo...

Lucid 6-96 Vs Big Ben
Does anyone have any insight as to the relative merits of the Lucid genx6-96 clock and the Apogee Big Ben? The Lucid, with 6 outs, would suit my needs at this time (if it does the biz) and would cost less than half as much as the Big Ben. I need to squeeze more goodness out of my Motu hardware and t...

Re: dudes... i got it! i effin' got it!
Dan Weiss Question: When you have more than 12 tracks (most of the time for me) how do you decide which ones will have to be summed in the box? The SSA-2A gives me a total of 20 inputs - 4 mono and and 8 stereo. I use the 4 mono for kick, snare, bass and main vocal or solo instrument. The 8 stereos...

Re: dudes... i got it! i effin' got it!
For summing I use a tube device from Lydkraft (took delivery of it a few weeks back) - the Tube-Tech SSA-2A, see here: http://www.tube-tech.com/?show=product&productId=17 This box has 4 mono and 8 stereo ins, all transformer balanced. There's no need for a pre-amp to gain up your mix as it doesn...

Re: Streaming??
Hi there daddyunicorn, Streaming is good so go ahead and press that button. Streaming conserves yummy ram by storing only a small portion of the sample file in ram and reading the rest direct from disk as required. This may very well increase cpu, but if so, only minimally - and it won't tax your ri...

Re: Best Orch sample lib for M5?
I've had M5 since it was released and would love to have a good orchestra in that format. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be one and I'll be buying EWQLSO Platinum next week. I'm already using Bardstown Bosendorfer in Kontakt, althought Kip has told me he'll most likely release an M5 version onc...
