Re: Hello guys!
Welcome Back FM! Congrats on the new space... have fun treating the interior! Interesting, isn't it, that the better isolation a room provides, the harder one has to work at treating it to sound good inside. My son used to live in an old house with very thin walls, almost cardboard, and the rooms s...

Hello guys!
Hi, amigos! As some of you know, I had to move out from where I was and I had to build a new studio from scratch. The thing is that everything that could've go wrong did go wrong, and then some... After more than a full year, the nightmare is almost over. The new place is 90% finished, but the rest,...

Re: Offsite backup... how sneaky is this? LOL
Hi, James. IMO, the whole point of having a 3rd redundant backup offsite is to have it FAR away from where ever you are. Mine is entrusted to my best friend who lives quite far from me. I gave him an encrypted USB3 spinner with all my personal files, clones of my 3 main OSs and all the sounds/sample...

Re: Object to Time Range Selection Conversion?
Hey gang.... I'm in a project where I'll need to bounce out something like 100 small files. Is there a way to convert an OBJECT selection (like a soundbite) to a TIME RANGE selection (with an in and out) using a key command or??? I'd like to be able to just click on a soundbite in the SE and hit Co...

Re: Side chain frequency ducking
You could easily do this with DP's Dynamic EQ... Oh, no, wait! You can't because, unbelievably, it doesn't have a Side chain facility
I use Waves' C4 for this. I don't know about Pro Q3, but I know that same company has a specialized tool for this, which I understand is awesome.

Re: Machfive3 preventing me from loading Pro Tools
I don't know if this will work, but you can try taking out the MachFive MAS.bundle out of the plugins folder. My copy of MachFive is in> (main) Library>Audio>Plugins>MAS Once you're there see if you also installed the AU or VST versions and do the same. I suppose putting it back there later will all...

Re: Recording MIDI drops the first note
If I add a blank bar at the beginning: 1) how do I get the measure numbers to show as the normal 1 / 9 / 17 they would be if I didn't have a blank bar? 2) how do I handle the blank bar when using Sequences in a Song? I want Sequences to flow into one another, but they don't if I have a blank measur...

Re: Customizing Themes (again)
Hey, Rick/ That looks awesome. Do you think you could please post a pic of what it looks like in the GE or SE? I ask because the almost invisibility of measure/grid lines, and lack of contrast of how the keys relate to notes in the GE, have been a pet peeve of mine for a long time. Something tells m...

Re: What can cause a spinner to go suddenly ultra slow?
Thank you for the reply, Mike. I agree. These HDs are living on borrowed time. Every time I turn on the computer, with its glacial pace, I swear I'll change them for SSDs, but then I don't  So you think this is disk-related and not system-related? I checked your links. I saw a cheap and big SS...

What can cause a spinner to go suddenly ultra slow?
Hello. I have a Mac Mini 2012 Server. It has 2 7200 RPM - 750 GB spinners, with High Sierra (as high as this computer can go). Two days ago the HD starting getting stupid and sloooooow. It takes up to 30 seconds to show files in folders in Finder, it interrupts iTunes playing a small mp3 which is no...

Re: V Racks vs VE Pro
Yet most composers you see on YouTube seems to use it. To me V Racks are much simpler, and I'm curious as to why DP users would choose VEP over them. It's not that you choose one over the other... you use them together , as a team. I use multiple computers, but I'd use VE Pro the same way even with...

Re: Question about a possible existing feature working with video
Yes, you can do what you mentioned. Better yet, you can duplicate your working chunk and try new ideas on the copy, so you stay on the same DP project (you do this in the Chunks window). You can also use different takes, depending on what you want to do. If all you want is to experiment with the sam...

Re: 2 "Newbie" Questions
Hi, I'm making another one of my "I haven't touched DP in 3 years, and I don't remember how to use it, so let's make some demos!" moments. So please be kind & patient. 1. As a start for 1 project, I imported MIDI from Sibelius. It's mainly 2 parts moving in parallel motion on 1 MIDI t...

Right now> Finals of the 18th International Chopin Piano Competition!
This is one of the two or three most competitive and important piano competitions in the planet. Watch live some of the best performers in existence from all over the world. The level and pianism of these competitors is ridiculously amazing. It seems we have better performers each competition... Lik...
