Re: 2" Tape + vinyl going forward…

I'd hardly say it's making a huge comeback. I've only been involved with analog tape with one artist in the last 15- 20 years, and supply is a big issue, let alone quality. Not to mention the massive cost. Don't get me wrong, I have done hundreds of projects on tape and vinyl, and it can be wonderfu...

Re: Burn Image to Disc not working 8.04?

I always do a lot of crossfades, so gapless CDs are a must for me. I record the whole album sequence to a stereo track in real time in DP (or PT). I then make the cuts where I want them, and then merge/consolidate each individual 'track' and rename them. Drop them into Toast - without gaps - and the...

Re: Song Window for Mastering?

OK, I misunderstood - I tend to view mastering as something I do to the stereo mixes!!

Re: Song Window for Mastering?

I tend to use a single sequence for mastering/premastering - each title on its own track with its own plugins and aux tracks if necessary, all bussed to an aux track with final buss processing/limiting/dither etc. This is then bussed to a final audio track and I record the whole sequence when I am h...

Re: MIDI file Q... How to half or double tempo?

I think this works - try locking the track before halving/doubling the tempo - I did a crude test 'by eye' and it seemed to work!

Then copy/paste or import to your project.

Cheers

Re: Melodyne DNA: Is it possible to remove objectionable lyr

it's a bit harder in Melodyne when the vocal is buried in the middle of a stereo mix!! It tends to pull all sorts of other stuff out with it as well.... but it's fun trying!

Re: Melodyne DNA: Is it possible to remove objectionable lyr

actually, I don't think DNA will do this effectively, it depends on the material - but Roland R-Mix is pretty good!

I'm still game to give it a shot if you're up for it.... I've got both....

PS I reckon Izotope RX Spectral Repair might be a possibility too....

Re: Armed automation

Look under Setup>Automation Setup

On the right hand panel uncheck Enable Automation Playback and Enable Automation Recording, and then click Save as Default for Audio Tracks at the bottom of the panel.

That should do it.

Cheers!

J Bridging and beyond....

So JBridge has got me through the transition - I'm mostly waiting on SoundToys, to be honest... I'm between projects and trying to keep my systems as tidy as possible. I'm not particularly keen on switching back and forth from 32 to 63bit, and I have had some issues using bridging. So I intend to do...

yes, same here, would be most interested to hear about it too. I'm creating projections for a concert event for which I am also directing the shoot and editing the film, so my visual workflow has gone mental... I mean, things are working fine with the newer graphics card with FCPX and Motion etc.. b...

Re: Ostinato - worth twice the price

In case anyone is interested..... I've been a pretty good musician for most of my life - after it was spotted I had a modicum of talent as a child I was presented as a candidate to be a boy chorister. That went very well, music scholarships and eventually entry to the UK's finest Royal College of Mu...
