Re: Do you still dedicate the first measure to CC# etc?
We were programming the DX Drum machine to FSK pulses back in 82-83? I'm trying to recall. The FSK pulse was recorded onto the 16 track and the DX sequence started immediately. But you had to rewind for each drum edit. (Now I remember. 1 bar for nothing and we recorded the click to tape. If there wa...

Re: TUTORIAL: M-Audio Axiom/Oxygen Transport Controls with D
Unlike a driver for CoreAudio/CoreMIDI, Axiom Pro plugs right in. I don't see anything in Audio MIDI setup either but it is working. Something about class compliant USB. If you don't see MIDI level in DP it still may be transmitting ok. You must rely on your MIDI Monitor window for trouble shooting ...

Re: 50% off KONTAKT and 10 other instruments
Hey, what's the official DP-7.24/8 word on Kontakt 5? Why would we upgrade from 4.2? Knowing NI won't answer their telephones for another 2 weeks. Or is it just PTs 10 and Kontakt 5 that don't get along? In short. Why up from Kontakt 4.2? If we stay with 4.2, but go 64 bit, DP-8, better than to inst...

Re: New Macbook Pro
FWIW, The $19 Apple TB to Firewire adapter has almost no chance of hosting your Firewire Audio interface. Thunderbolt incorporates hardware security and reverts a direct Firewire connection to ethernet to prevent DMA hacks. Many TB to raid enclosures are not performing well either. The fact that cla...

Re: New Macbook Pro
There's always a Catch 22.
But when Mountain Lion is pre-installed w/ updated firmware, will it be possible to revert to Lion? Probably not.
And then will W-7 run native or virtual? Still no word on whether 3rd party AUs will be sandboxed in Mountain Lion?

It is Kontack V however. I just heard the Holy Grail of virtual pianos, those thinking of buying Alicia's Keys. http://www.artvista.net/Virtual_Grand_Piano.html powered by Kontakt. Ck out Scott Greer's 'Safe At The Hideout' track. Or do you mean no upgrade voucher in combination with NI's sale price?

Re: New Macbook Pro
Ck this thread out. Motu chimes in re Apple's USB-3 (no USB 1.1 MIDI). M-Audio dead in the water at the moment. NI bad news bears as well.

Re: New Trojan can install without password
Seems wise to update to Safari (5.1.7) and other browsers first.
BTW,
Firefox 3.6.28 blocks the java plug-in (irregardless of version) for PPC machines.

Re: New Trojan can install without password
Apple has now released Snow Leopard to the public
https://secure.me.com/account/?flow=snowleopard
Lion Gold Master has java installed where the later updates do not. Is that the deal? However one can reinstall java.

July 9th is supposedly the date when DNS changers begin wreaking havoc again. (edit - most of this post was confusing. Re: Affordable phono preamps for vinyl restoration?
You'd need line level t/s to use the insert method. So that means unbalanced :( Seems odd that this was so common place? Speaking of, I have "Escalator Over the Hill" in the stack: Jack Bruce and Carla Bley. Maybe it's time to have another listen! (added) Thorens drive belts, etc http://ww...

Re: Some questions about drum-set mixing
I was told Ringo's kit from EMI was Mid-Side.
Ck out the first Traffic album where the drum kit is 'raised up'. I don't know how it's done, but probably mangling phase in some manner (or narrowing the image) whatever...

Re: Affordable phono preamps for vinyl restoration?
I know you tried XLR to t/r/s, but what about plugging t/s half way in the mic pre at its insert? That would be unbalanced but still low-z line level.
Curious what cartridge are you using? Can one still buy needles for the old Shures?
