Re: The Longest, Most Inconsistently-Off-Topic Thread in History

Would none at all be better than thinly spread? Many would say that Stoivo, but I'll bet that a decent percentage of them wouldn't have had it spread sufficiently-thinly, hence my timely-and-pertinent warning. With bananas, right? I'm not joking that the other day, when trying to imagine odd food c...

Re: The Longest, Most Inconsistently-Off-Topic Thread in History

That's so off-topic it made my head spin mate.

The thing visitors and new Australians don't understand about Vegemite is that it must be spread thinly, preferably on toast rather than bread, but either way, thinly is the key.

Ha! Yeah, I've stuck with it for a long while now.

Too bad about the machine. It rocks.

Funny you should say that Mark, 'cause I originally had "Nitwit" and then changed it, thinking the same thing!

Re: Anyone have a Mac Pro 2012 3.46 mhz 12 core desktop that they would sell me?

Dammit, I've got exactly that machine with the 12-core upgrade (and the 424 card and 3 24i/o units), but I'm in Melbourne mate. If you were local or willing to pay whatever the shipping might be I could send it to you, but only after I upgrade to AS sometime this year. I've got all the packaging etc...

Well I'm glad that's over. 34ºC / 93ºF in the house for several days. Not fun.

Obviously I haven't made any progress; both 'puters switched-off. Have some catching up to do including forum-mod work.

Re: Macbook Pro 2011 17" Suddenly died - Help Please!

What macOS is this running? Internet recovery: Neither internal drive (1 spinner, 1 SSD, both with 10.13.6 installed )... Steve: I'll look into creating a USB boot drive Stoivo; good thinking mate. I'll be turning the cheese grater off for 3 days. High 30s (ºC) predicted 'til Tuesday and I don't ru...

Re: Macbook Pro 2011 17" Suddenly died - Help Please!

Recovery partition is what you want. As I said in the OP and my last post, none of the 3 boot options I have gets there Mike. After the striped screen, it goes light-grey and then either stays there or reboots. As I said, Option-booting gets me to the screen where I can choose from the 3 options (S...

Re: Macbook Pro 2011 17" Suddenly died - Help Please!

Lucky you Brother Stoivo. I can only hope for some of that success on this end mate. Mike: Thank you! External monitor: Been hooked up to the TV for 12 years. "Failed" whilst hooked-up. Disconnected now for the troubleshooting. Internet recovery: Neither internal drive (1 spinner, 1...

Macbook Pro 2011 17" Suddenly died - Help Please!

This is the only laptop I've ever bought. Never moved - lives on stand next to TV. Used only to play iTunes through 828 interface to speakers and play movies and film clips via VLC into TV. Battery cycled once a month through the years - still charges to 98, sometimes 100%! Suddenly now it keeps reb...

Re: Native Instruments is threatening to switch to subscriptions

Mark, I think in reality it falls under the famous prophetic utterance of an organisation that shall remain "unnamed" here.

From 2016:
"You'll own nothing and be happy."

Sure looks like things are heading that way and big companies are pushing hard.
