Re: Gibson buys Mesa/Boogie Amplifier company

The common idea that Gibson "killed" Opcode is a bit muddled. Opcode was near death when Gibson bought it at a fire-sale price. Opcode would have died months earlier without the infusion of cash Gibson provided, but it was too little and way too late. Mesa makes perfect sense for them. The...

Re: Old Tascam versus New Tascam

Gibson has a pattern regarding Henry's acquisitions... find a company on the ropes (Tascam), decide they have a piece of IP you want (DSP recording), buy them for a fire sale price, and then apply the technology to a guitar product (remember the guitar cable that recorded everything you played throu...

Re: Platform M control surface

The software that comes with the unit (which now runs on Mac as well as PC) makes it easy to remap the device to any MIDI controller numbers you want. I don't use it that way, but you can... saving set-ups for various controllers on your computer and loading them into the Platform-M as needed.

Re: Waves 12?

Everything gets trashed pretty good at GS.

Still, I'm only on Waves 10. Maybe I should re-up my WUP.

Re: Need a small monitor recommendation

I used a pair of these as Awfultones for many years. Nice bunched up midrange so you can hear what's really going on down there. But they don't sound "awful:" you can stand to listen to them. https://tinyurl.com/yxtfzcm8 Can you really hear what's going on around 100Hz? If the answer is, ...

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused

Well, like I say, I read something on this board recently that indicated the counterintuitive method was actually the cool guy setup.

Glad to know there's no real alarm.

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused

Thanks for the replies. MLC, I'm reading you to say that running large projects from a separate drive is A-OK? Still standard practice?

It makes sense to me, but I just wanted to make sure that the truth is wasn't counterintuitive....

Projects on the System drive? I'm confused

I read something on this forum somewhere to the effect that it's no longer wise or necessary to store projects on a separate drive, and that it actually runs better if the project is on the System drive. I just saw another post on the subject, indicating that a VocAlign project would run okay from t...
