I always use the quantize box to snap the soundbites to 8th or 16ths... just set up a Key Binding, mine is the default 'command+0', but i guess it could logically be 'Q'! So just select the bite/s when yur ready , hit the shortcut and headbutt Enter.....took me a while to get into it, but thats jus...

unlike pt, the grid in dp isn't a mode of editing, it's a unit of measurement by which events will move/select. events will not snap to the grid, but they will move by the unit of measurement determined by the grid setting (whole note/quarter note/frame, etc)... ...it's a bit different, but i think...

confused by grid
as I struggle along, this is the one that's killing me. my audio wants to snap to some sort of grid that I can't figure out. the book says very little about the grid modes that I can find. I thought it might be a sync point, but that's not it. if I turn the grids all off I can move the soundbite fre...

how to do this in DP
hi all, when working in pro tools I will make a track(s) inactive and get it/them out of the way, something I'm not going to use right now (maybe never) but I don't want to get rid of. say I blend a bunch of tracks and bounce them down and now I'm going to use the bounce but I might go back and re-b...

info on switching to DP from PT
hey, does anyone know of a guide or any info that would be helpful for someone learning DP after using Pro Tools for many years? I like a lot of things about DP so far but I still find it frustrating to have to stop constantly and spend an hour looking through the manual for some simple little thing...

It's a workflow issue. In Protools, I select a region, select Consolidate Tracks, and PT creates a soundbite of that region. Done. In DP, the newly merged soundbite starts with the first soundbite in that selected region, NOT from the beginning of the selected region. For file transfer and archivin...

Re: disable ethernet?
I made a "location" in "Network" control panel called "Off" and turned everything off. then I just switch to it from the apple menu.
