Thanks to all of you who have responsed thus far. I am leaning towards the dual 2.5, which is my most affordable option, and sounds like it will be more than suitable for most projects. With regards to VIs, the main one I intend to use consistently is SampleTank. IK Multimedia have been promising a ...

Re: Those of you with Dual 2.5 GHz machines...
If you get the G5, you can use your G4 to run the sample instruments, and network the two together. I may end up doing just that... however, I am hoping that if the G5 is fast enough I won't have to do that unless absolutely necessary. I will be connecting the 2 computers with a special KVM switch ...

Those of you with Dual 2.5 GHz machines...
Hi folks, I have reached the point where I must buy a new G5 to get DP running efficiently for me. I have the option to buy a friend's Dual 2.5 GHz machine at a reasonable price. The thing is, I am concerned about that fact that I have read many reports in this forum from users who have Dual 2.5 mac...

Partitioning hard drive...
I made a bunch of blank partitions in my 250 GB boot drive so that I never have to wipe a current boot partition when either restoring a backed up boot partition or experimenting with new OS versions. I haven't regretted it. dtobocman, Just out of curiosity, how many parititions and what size of pa...

Using the G5 S/PDIF input instead of additional soundcard?
Hi folks, I am considering the purchase of a G5 and upgrading my setup. I usually record audio tracks one at a time, and I already have some nice pre-amps and a good AD converter. Am I to understand that I could use the S/PDIF input on the G5 to record my audio tracks in DP? Is it necessary for me t...

why don't you just export the MIDI files as Standard MIDI Files from SVP? Splinter, The problem is that I have so many SVP song files over the course of so many years, that to export the MIDI of all those files would take a whole heap of hours. I suppose I will have to do that eventually, before my...

Ability to open up SVP files
I just posted this idea in response to another thread, but thought I should add it here... not sure if anyone else has suggested it in the many pages preceeding this one... How about the ability for StudioVisionPro files to be opened up and saved as DP files? Couldn't a utility or plugin be created ...

Re: Switch from Opcode to MOTU
What about a new feature in DP that WOULD allow SVP files to be opened up and saved as DP files? How hard could it be to interpret the MIDI data in a SVP file and have all the sequences converted into DP chunks? I have thousands of SVP files (each with numerous embedded sequences) which need to be e...

Encore/ST G4 Duet suspect
I also have the Sonnet dual 1.27 Encore/ST G4 Duet, and I have experienced all sorts of problems getting DP 4.5 and 4.6 to function properly... all sorts of odd behavior. I have suspected that the Sonnet accelerator is the problem, but I have yet to rule out my RAM and the digi001 PCI card which is ...

Re: Switching Chunks DP 4.6
Anyone else having a similar problem or wish to share if the same behavior is on your system? Hi Croyal, Yes I have noticed that problem as well. Using the consolidated windows Tabs, the editor and mix windows don't always show tracks from the current chunk. What I have found, over time, is that th...

Re: Digital Performer Tips, Edited
I would be willing to donate my time/resources to put together the final PDF. Here is a Mock-Up PDF that I put together tonight. Obviously this is just for "look-and-feel", but I have access to Quark and Acrobat Pro, so it would be fairly easy (albeit time-consuming) to put this thing tog...
