DP 10 & 9: Tracks Overview not scrolling to 0:00:00.0
As reported in my MOTU TechLink... Movie linked here. In any sequence or project in DP 10 (and I think it was also in DP 9) the tracks overview (TO) window doesn't reliably update to the beginning (measure 1) of the sequence. If measure 1 isn't showing in the TO, setting the start time on the fly, o...

Re: Just lost a gig to a NY guy who charges $50 per minute…
And I assume we're talking middle to late career at this point. I've been doing this and nothing else for the last 50 years or so. In my early years I had a different motto: never refuse work! And I was burnt big time more than once, from non-payment to infringements of my work (all of which were pu...

And, to the o/p FM: if the client is that lame, you're better off without them. They'll rip you off eventually or, at least, cost you headaches in the future, related to payment and content. I say: good riddance! Agreed. It's just a shame that they already extracted so much of your time and effort ...

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused
Well, like I say, I read something on this board recently that indicated the counterintuitive method was actually the cool guy setup. Glad to know there's no real alarm. Define: cool guy. lol Perhaps there are some highly technical situations where the contrary advice is perfectly valid. I don't pr...

FWIW, I snagged Cinematic Shades and Atmospherics, as they will come in handy in more than a few projects.
Now what to buy with my $100 voucher?

Caved? As in co-habitated in the same cave?! I'm sorry, but I don't remember that episode of my life, but it explains the hemorrhoids. Wait, what?monkey man wrote:We both caved at the same time, Magilla. :

Re: PayPal - Upgrade MachFive 2 -> 3
Well, damn! That's another $179 I'll never see again... lol. And to UVI's great credit, I was a couple of days late to get onboard. I wrote to UVI and got the sale price, the $100 voucher, and the two expansions (which I've yet to decide on). Any suggestions? So like MachFive, and that's a plus. I p...

Re: Just lost a gig to a NY guy who charges $50 per minute…
Anybody who charges $50 per finished minute of score will be out of business soon. Oh, I don't know. I see a lot of cheap ass "producers" who are unable to HEAR music and who would buy that crap. What do the music libraries charge? I just finished video (and audio) editing for an online p...

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused
Thanks for the replies. MLC, I'm reading you to say that running large projects from a separate drive is A-OK? Still standard practice? It makes sense to me, but I just wanted to make sure that the truth is wasn't counterintuitive.... I'm told that is also what MOTU suggests. I've been doing it lik...

Re: DP 10.13
I've had a few DP 10.13 problems. When a movie is present, I can't access the HELP run items. DP hangs with partially drawn screens. It eventually recovers. The workaround is to close the movie window. This is a bug that was quashed in DP 10 and 10.11, but after the update it reappeared. Weird. Now ...

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused
Well, there's also the "insurance" aspect. If my project drive goes out, all I have to do is restore that. But if my system drive goes south or the machine bites the dust, so does my project drive. I've had that happen. I have backup machines or I could go to another studio with the projec...

Re: Projects on the System drive? I'm confused
I always have working projects on the internal SSD, but move them to an external when they're done, or won't be worked for a while, if only to save space. I think this has been a standard practice for quite a while. Standard for who? I had the Library of Congress send me a file a few months ago to ...
