Watch out for the defrag times with iDefrag. I bought it a couple of months ago but found it unusable as it was going to take as much as a day(!) to defrag a 60gb iBook drive. There is no demo worth speaking of - the demo they offer will only defrag a 100mb drive. Did you actually let it finish? If...

However, consolidating free space on the System/App drive seems to only become an issue when the drive is getting rather full - I have some 30% of the drive open, so I have plenty of large, free chunks for caches, etc. You're quite right. The key making sure you keep a significant piece of that dri...

On your startup volume, OSX only defrags files up to 20Meg as someone pointed out. It does NOT consolidate free space. It does not optimize the drive. On your audio drive or partition, assuming that it is not the same as your startup volume, OSX will do nothing at all. You should consolidate free sp...

Can one of the people who use it with DP point me to step by step instructions on how to get it to work? Put the BCF into Mackie Control mode. Then go to the control surface setuup in DP and add a Mackie Control, the select the BCF as the MIDI port. Thanks. I went back to look again, and it was all...

For the price, the BCF2000 is fine. It's a bit noisy, but weird? How so? Not touch sensitive, but doesn't claim to be. And just whose control surface does it rip off? Can one of the people who use it with DP point me to step by step instructions on how to get it to work? I've followed the other thre...

I just checked out what they charge for BarbaBatch. I guess it would want to be a damn good SRC for that price. Assumed you had BB and were looking at Peak as an alternative. If Peak LE does SRC it would be a good alternative because it's <$100 and maybe even less for any left over V4 boxes. Quattr...

Cheers
Not better than BarbaBatch. But one of the better results in the tests.

You might find those MIDI patch libraries from the Expansion Board Setup.
Expansion Board Setup is inside the DP Extras folder.

OK thanks. I assumed the patches I had before were from OSX. Maybe they were from old versions of Logic or Cubase. I'll wait and see what my DP package brings.

OSX MIDI Patches

I recall in previous versions of OSX, there were libraries of MIDI patches for common synths. Don't think I've seen these for quite a while on any of my Macs. Cubase has its own MIDI patch libraries, but wondering if I will need to restore the OSX MIDI patches to use in DP, and if so, how that is do...

Is there a particular reason NOT to use SDII files? The Nuendo thread said nothing except that it is a "pain".

Is there confusion between previous versions of these versions of Melodyne and the new Uno plug? I didn't pay the $150 to move from Uno as a rewire app and a plug -- was happy with rewire. Does the plug actually work like the Rewire? Or are we confusing the two?

The Melodyne PLUG-IN requires you to transfer audio to a folder first? I don't get it. That doesn't sound right - 10 seconds to open - that doesn't sound right either. Yes, sounds pointless to have made it a plug from a Rewire without gaining any of the convenience of that format. As well, the Rewi...

I think it works at least as well, and sometimes more natural, and is a better interface. Uno is what I have and have been offered a half price change from a Rewire app to plug.

I have the Cubase version of these. They are very well done, and I have never thought that replacing the actual keys would have been any better. I'll get the DP version and put them on a different keyboard.
