Re: Would anyone care to
I figured that YOU would say that! I still want to eat to see what I'm missing. I've also been looking at iris. I'm sure that has all that great izotope stretch stuff and since im not really looking at it as a traditional sampler it may fit the bill. Do you have both though? Care to throw a single s...

Do a comparison of Konrakt with Mach 5 v3 time stretching? Like a single piano sample or drum hit? I'm curious how good the ircam stretch is over kontakts algorithm. If no one feels like it that's cool too. Just wanted to hear a few examples.

Re: Recording Pipe Hits
So I ended up doing a couple things. I hit it on the end with a palm slap. That produced a sound close to my ear. I ended up hitting it with a sealed palm and keeping it on, sending the sound out of the bottom and recording it at the end. Good sound. The other thing that I did was some flute style b...

Recording Pipe Hits
So, I am doing some video game sound design, and I need to make a "shield disturbance" type sound. Kind of a low frequency wub. I have two pvc pipes in my basement of varying lengths that definitely make a nice little wub. Does anyone have any idea what the best way to record these is? I r...

Another Channel Strip thread
So, I checked out a demo of Alloy 2. Pretty f'ing sweet. I really liked it this time around, and it seems izotope is "toning down" their interfaces for lack of better wording. I don't mean dumed down, Alloy 2 just looks cleaner than some past offerings from them, IMO, though i don't rememb...

Re: New Focusrite Forte
So, for all of the firewire stalwarts out there (including me), is it time for us to hang it up and concede that usb works as well with latency and everything else as firewire? All of the interface companies seem to think so. Apogee, focusrite, a LOT of high end interfaces are coming out usb only.

Axiom mkII, pro, or equivalent novation
Any thoughts? I have an old 1st gen axiom 61 which I like, don't really love. I may not even buy one of these. One of my customers had the pro 61 the other day, which is the first I have ever had the opportunity to play it, and the key feel was WAY better, the noise was better, the hyper control was...

Re: New Reaktor Multi Synth, Aries 2.0.
I gotta say, I have to bump David...you should charge for this. This is on par with most of the synths in the library, and a cut above a lot of the stuff in the User Library (not to disparage some of the great work that's in there, I can't program reaktor for sheiße).
Thank you very very much.

Hahaha MLC that's exactly what I was saying to myself. Just no. Classic response. Snow Leopard looks to be the last great operating system that Apple will make. Kind of disappointing.

Lion or No?
How is everyone operating on Lion? I know .4 just came out, I was wondering if by now some of the performance issues and slowness that I was seeing on other people's computers was improved on. I'm running 6gb of ram on a 2.66 4-core 2009 mac pro. I see Lion as bells and whistles, but I'm already ant...

Re: Glyph vs OWC vs other?
New MBP will have thunderbolt, and you can invest in one of those external pci adapters if that is the route that you decide to go. Will still best FW800 (although i've been a firewire fanatic since I started in this crap).

Don't really get Waves NLS
I mean, I get it, it's a make-sound-better-plugin. What i'm unsure, and i know this is completely subjective, but is this the type of plug that is supposed to be used on every track? Anyone using it? You using it on every track? Just curious, checking out a demo, and trying some different things. Se...

Re: Glyph vs OWC vs other?
Both good and reliable, just make sure you are getting a 7200 rpm drive (i don't think glyph offers lower), and i would stick to firewire. I think OWC may be a little cheaper, and I've always had good exp with them.

Re: Hollywood style silencer
Yea, I did mess with tuning. As far as what's up with it, it's for a video game. The gun sound they wan for the robot is about a 20 mm but he is a sniper unit so they wanted it silenced. I know the audience won't know nor care, but the guys ate kinda pucky an both happen to be gun nuts. I know next ...

Hollywood style silencer
Hey everyone. Any advice on how to turn a shot sample into a "hollywood" silencer? I need it on a larger scale, but can't really tune it in right. The sample that I'm trying to silence is a 20mm gun, big boy. So i can't just use another sample. I've tried eq, but then it just sounds eq'd. ...
