Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
I suspect you could tell by Apple's over-the-top deluxe white packaging-- which I doubt a counterfeiter would bother to replicate (but I may be wrong). OTOH, if they are asking Apple's price, perhaps it would be worth it. I would think if it came in the proper packaging it’s legit. It’s a real head...

Re: Apple Thunderbolt 3 to 2 adapter and MOTU audio interface dropouts.
I have connectivity and noise burst problems with 2 different adapters, gave up and moved to USB, solved it. Something's not happy in my system with those adapters. Disappointing. That's a bummer. I know that only the genuine Apple adapters are supposed to work properly. Makes me wonder though, if ...

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
I just found my old rack mount external clock unit. It’s a Lucid GENx192. I have some empty spaces to fill up. I’m gonna throw it in the rack and do some experiments with it. If nothing else, have it flash its lights to further enhance the studio magic. Hahaha... yeah... I almost bought anoth...

Same here. Maybe it’s just a bum adapter or something?HCMarkus wrote:I do not have this issue with my 828ES, Mac Studio, and the Apple TB Adaptor.

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
MOTU recommends an external clock when there are three or more units connected. If you have sync issues, connect it over USB 2 instead of TB. The 828x uses a built-in Firewire to Thunderbolt adapter for connectivity. Since all MOTU FW devices run at FW400 speeds, there's a chance that the Fast USB ...

Re: Single interface (828x)-any reason to use external clock?
From what I have read and heard, if you use just a single interface (or even multiple older MOTU PCI "AudioWire" interfaces) there's no need to have an external clock. You only need it if you need to supply a clock source to synchronize multiple pieces of gear. There's not technical reason...

Re: New Mac: Loud crackling driving me mad
Now for the bad news: The Firewire to TB adaptor is sold out at Apple.com, unavailable at Amazon, and Ebay sellers are asking well over $100 for it. Reminds me of years ago when I was trying to find an Apple VESA adapter for my 24" DVI Cinema Display. They were impossible to find and some guy ...

It looks that way. It's a French company and it's just a prototype, but I could see this as having a lot of potential.stubbsonic wrote: ↑Sun May 05, 2024 9:11 am Were they able to make a glass display with holes and rotary push encoders poking through them? That's crazy!
