i'm happy to have a macbook pro as my "everyday" computer. the studio daw is a mac pro. that said, i do some audio work with it. things like it having a firewire 800 and 400 port make a difference to me. i hook up the 896 to the 400 port and the hard drive to the 800 port and bobs your unc...

How much "better" would 64-bit apps sound? You can't qualify everything based on whether it's 64-bit. That's like saying that a convertor sounds great because the specs say it's 24bit/192khz. Specs alone don't determine whether the software sounds good. you are misunderstanding what a 64 ...

ok, i tried with a different .dv file today and it worked. perhaps the other file was funky, perhaps a fresh start with this was needed on my part. so today it's working fine and as advertised. i dunno the reason, but that works for me.

i've got an active technote with motu, but i haven't figured this out yet. also, i had to move on and do some live gigs, so i'm going to revisit this more tomorrow. the computer is a mac pro quad core with 9 gigs of ram and 3 terrabytes of hd. a motu pci424 interface. os is still 10.4.11 and DP is 5...

yes, i was the one who asked that on the list. it is a useful workaround. for me the question that remains is what is going on with my system such that DP won't open dv files, but logic and pro tools will? i mention the other apps just as a check to assure the hardware is all working and that some t...

i am still waiting to hear from motu on why i might be having trouble with this. i still think it's weird that it works fine in logic and pro tools.

ok, curious. it's one reason that i noted that quicktime does play the dv files. i thought that helped me to determine that quicktime was alright. maybe not. hhmm. i wonder what is going on.

opening .dv files in DP

hi there, i am trying to open some .dv files in DP (like it repeatedly says it is able to do) and it isn't working. in the movie dialogue the dv files are greyed out but the mov files work fine. problem is that i want to output the video via a canopus advc 110 to a monitor and that requires the dv v...

if your card is physically loose than you already know what your problem is.

thought i'd mention something that may or may not be relevent. on my secondary machine, which uses a m-audio card, i had a similar issue. at a certain point the computer just lost communication with the card. it turned out it actually was the driver going funny somehow, and reinstalling the software...
